anana production is the second economic activity of El Oro, and 40-year-old plantations require renovation of traditional systems with vigorous young plants. Micropropagation, as an alternative to obtain banana plants, proposes RITA® tem- porary immersion systems. The extracts of Moringa oleifera LAM (MOL) demonstrated the existence of organs with great potential for antioxidant activity. The content of soluble phe- nols and antioxidants in different organs in MOL, as well as banana vitroplants rooted in RITA® were evaluated. Different immersion cycles (3, 6 and 8 cycles) as well as conventional semi-solid systems were used to evaluate the elicitation of roo- ted vitroplants to reduce oxidative stress in these conditions. The phenolic contents obtained in MOL were 6.35 and 6.53 mg equivalents of gallic acid /g dry weight in leaf and flower extracts. Leaf extracts also showed antioxidant potential, with a significant 24.36% reduction of DPPH. Explants cultured in RITA® with 8 immersion cycles produced longer roots and hi- gher fresh mass than those cultured with 3 or 6 cycles and semi-solid medium. The elicitation with aqueous MOL leaf ex- tracts in RITA® at 8 immersion cycles allowed to increase the phenol content to 6.32 mg GAE / g Dry Weight, as well as to enhance antioxidants by 13.60 % reduction in DPPH, reducing the oxidative stress of Williams vitroplants in rooting phase.
