allemand. A new model for the estimation of the digestible nutrient content and the energetic feeding value was investigated. The basic idea of this a pproach is to estimate the faecal nutrients excreted by the animal as a proportion of the dry matter intake. By evaluation of a bulk of data gained from digestibility trials in sheep mean values and estimation function for the nutrient excretion were ascertained. Generalizing the se figures a rational system of equations for the estimation of DOMD or ME in silages is suggested
