anglais. Wood prices are increasing and wood is short of supply. Therefore non wood resources e.g. from agricultural production are coming into consideration as alternatives or as replenishment. If agriculture wants to become a future supplier for raw materials for the fi bre board industry, several general requirements such as fi bre quality, perennial and regional raw material availability at competitive prices and stable quality of end products have to be fulfi lled. At present, the main focus is especially on hemp shives, rapeseed straw, fermentation fi bres from biogas plants and wood from short rotation coppice.

Deshalb wächst das Interesse der Holzwerkstoffindustrie an landwirtschaftlichen Roh- und Reststoffen, die für die Herstellung von Span- und Faserplatten verwendet werden können. Der Fasergehalt und die -qualität sowie die Eigenschaften der Endprodukte sind zentrale Fragen für die zukünftige Nutzung landwirtschaftlicher Rohstoffquellen in diesen Segmenten. Wichtig ist außerdem die regionale Verfügbarkeit großer Rohstoffmengen und der Preis für eine ganzjährige Bereitstellung. Von besonderem Interesse sind derzeit z. B. Hanfschäben, Rapsstroh, Gärrestfasern aus der Biogasgewinnung oder schnellwachsende Gehölze.
