Development of advanced technologies for storage of local varieties and forms of garlic under refrigeration conditions.

Garlic is grown in almost all regions of Georgia. The Agricultural Scientific Research Center supported 2016-2019 expeditions to collect garlic gene pool samples in the Shida Kartli, Kvemo Kartli, Meskheti, Mtskheta-Mtianeti, Kakheti, and Svaneti regions. Thirty-two forms of local garlic varieties and variety populations and two imported-introduced varieties were evaluated under natural conditions in Meskheti, Kakheti, Ambrolauri, Dedoflistskaro regional nurseries and in a refrigeration system at the Tsilkani scientific research center. Biomorphological, economic, qualitative indicators were used. Attention was also paid to taste properties, the ability to store in natural conditions, and resistance to pests and diseases.
