Ecology and distribution of gobioid fishes of Madras and its envirions were studied. A total of twenty-one species are reported. The original reference is given after each species, followed by material, distribution and remarks. Under material the registration number, number of examples, locality, date of collection and collector′s name are given in sequence. Distribution of gobioid fishes and hydrological data of Pulicat, Ennore, and Adayar are given.
