Estrategias de Economía Circular en el Eco-Campus UPB para el Fortalecimiento de la Sostenibilidad. Semestre de Industria

RESUMEN : En la actualidad, el consumo de los recursos naturales ha alcanzado niveles alarmantes, poniendo en riesgo el equilibrio del planeta y, por lo tanto, es necesario buscar alternativas que, a diferencia del modelo de producción y consumo lineal, protejan al medio ambiente, prevengan la contaminación y faciliten el camino hacia el desarrollo sostenible. Una de las alternativas más acogidas a nivel mundial es la EC, que promueve un flujo cíclico para la extracción, transformación, distribución, uso y recuperación de materiales y energía de productos y servicios, donde el valor de los recursos se mantiene el mayor tiempo posible, limitando el uso de materias primas y energía, evitando la generación de desechos. Este nuevo paradigma, se ha vuelto cada vez más relevante en diferentes ámbitos y, en respuesta a esta tendencia, la UPB ha realizado excepcionales esfuerzos hacia la sostenibilidad, como lo demuestran sus certificaciones como Carbono Neutro y Basura Cero en la Categoría Oro. En este contexto, el presente estudio busca documentar las estrategias de EC existentes y proponer nuevas, que permitan seguir fortaleciendo la sostenibilidad en el Eco-Campus UPB con el fin de continuar apropiando alternativas de aprovechamiento en las diferentes matrices ambientales, donde se encontró que algunas estrategias que se podrían integrar al sistema de gestión de la Universidad están relacionadas con el intercambio de prendas de vestir, la ampliación de la capacidad para gestionar los residuos de poda y tala, la sensibilización ambiental de la comunidad universitaria y el aprovechamiento de materiales que actualmente se destinan a disposición final.

ABSTRACT : Currently, the consumption of natural resources has reached alarming levels, putting the planet's balance at risk and, therefore, it is necessary to seek alternatives that, unlike the linear production and consumption model, protect the environment, prevent pollution and facilitate the path towards sustainable development. One of the most popular alternatives worldwide is the circular economy, which promotes a cyclical flow for the extraction, transformation, distribution, use and recovery of materials and energy from products and services, where the value of resources is maintained for as long as possible, limiting the use of raw materials and energy and avoiding the generation of waste. This new paradigm has become increasingly relevant in different areas and, in response to this trend, UPB has made exceptional efforts towards sustainability, as evidenced by its certifications as Carbon Neutral and Zero Waste in the Gold Category. In this context, this paper seeks to document the existing circular economy strategies and propose new ones, which allow to continue reinforce sustainability in the UPB Eco-Campus in order to continue appropriating alternatives in the different environmental matrices, where the results show that some strategies that could be integrated into the management system of the University are related to the exchange of clothing, the expansion of the capacity to manage pruning and logging waste, the environmental awareness of the university community and the use of materials that are currently destined for final disposal.
