Perennial grasses, both fresh and preserved (hay, haylage, silage), are an important source of fodder for various animal species. The content of nutrients in the freshly harvested fodder, hay and haylage from the Romanian cultivars of reed canary grass - Phalaris arundinacea ‘Premier’ and tall fescue - Festuca arundinacea ‘Adela’ created at the Research-Development Institute for Grasslands, Brașov, and cultivated on the experimental sector of the “Alexandru Ciubotaru” National Botanical Garden (Institute), Republic of Moldova. The studied cultivars could be used in the Republic of Moldova to restore degraded permanent grasslands, as a component of the mixture of grasses for the creation of temporary grasslands, and the harvested biomass can be used fresh or preserved to feed the livestock.
