Support to the Forest Law Enforcement, Governance, and Trade (FLEGT) Joint Implementation Framework in Guyana

The Voluntary Partnership Agreement (VPA) between Guyana and the European Union, signed in June 2023, seeks to reduce illegal logging, improve forest governance, and promote legal timber trade. The initiative will be implemented by IICA and focuses on establishing the legality assurance system (GTLAS), strengthening the participation of key stakeholders, and improving information exchange. It has a duration of 39 months and is funded by the EU with EUR 2 million.
