bulgare. The purpose of this study was to investigate the effectiveness of direct and indirect methods for diagnosis of subclinical mastitis in goats and prevalence of the disease in early lactation. The study included 26 animals of the breed Bulgarianwhite dairy goat and its crosses, first or second lactation found in early lactation period (15-20 days after birth). The expressdiagnostics of subclinical mastitis was carried out using a rapid mastitis test CMT-Test (Kruuse, Denmark) and test PortaSCC (Porta Check, USA). After an initial screening for the accurate diagnosis to determine the number of somatic cells byFossomatic and microbiological testing for isolation of pathogenic microorganisms. The results showed 42.31% prevalenceof subclinical mastitis in the early stages of lactation. The isolated microorganisms included: Staphylococcus epidermidis, Staphylococcus caprae, Staphylococcus aureus, Enterobacter spp., Pasteurella multocida, Mannheimia haemolytica,Corynebacterium spp., E. Coli, and Proteus mirabilis. Final analysis showed that the self-administration of the indirect testsfor the diagnosis of subclinical mastitis in goats is ineffective in early lactation, but can be used for selection of animalswhich produce a sterile milk samples for laboratory analysis. In early lactation sub-clinical inflammation mostly affects bothhalves of the breast, as proof of 500 x 10³ somatic cells in 1 ml of milk secretion is the appropriate limit for the diagnosis ofsubclinical mastitis in goats.
