anglais. The objectives of this work were to evaluate the effect of sex on birth weight of guinea pigs of the Peru breed in the dry season. The study was carried out at the ILLPA experimental center annex Salcedo between the months of June and September; a total of 120 guinea pigs, including males and females, were evaluated. The guinea pigs were weighed on a scale of 0.01g precision, in the morning in order to avoid the effect of the food. The feeding of the guinea pigs was based on oat hay plus a concentrate with a contribution of 2.5 Mcal and water added in clay wells. No significant differences (P>0.05) were found in the birth weight of female and male guinea pigs.

El estudio se realizó en el centro experimental ILLPA anexo salcedo entre los meses junio a septiembre, se evaluaron un total de 120 cuyes entre machos y hembras. Se pesaron los cuyes en balanza de 0.01g de precisión, en horas de la mañana con el fin de evitar el efecto del alimento. La alimentación de los cuyes se basó en heno de avena más un concentrado con un aporte de 2.5 Mcal y adicionada agua en pocillos de arcillas. No se hallaron diferencias significativas (P>0.05) en el peso al nacimiento de cuyes hembra y macho.
