Prevalence and antimicrobial resistance of Salmonella isolated from dogs in Khon Kaen province | ความชุกและการดื้อยาต่อยาต้านจุลชีพของเชื้อซัลโมเนลลาที่แยกได้จากสุนัขในจังหวัดขอนแก่น

Objective: To determine prevalence of Salmonella isolated from dogs in Khon Kaen province  and  to evaluate antimicrobial resistance of the Salmonella isolates.  Materials and Methods: Between January 2013 and December 2015, a total of 428 fecal samples were collected using rectal swab from dogs with and without diarrhea. These dogs were brought to veterinary clinics for routinely clinical examination. All samples were examined for Salmonella spp. isolation and identification using ISO 6597:2002 meth- ods. The Salmonella isolates were further tested for antimicrobial resistance with seven antimicrobial drugs (chloram- phenicol, norfloxacin, ciprofloxacin, gentamicin, sulfamethoxazole-trimethoprim and tetracycline) using a disk diffusion technique including. Results: The overall prevalence rate of Salmonella infections in the dogs was 11.92% (51/428). Twenty-two Salmonella serovars were identified. The most predominant serovars were S. Typhimurium (19.60%), S. Weltevreden (15.69%), and S. Give (9.80%), respectively. The Salmonella isolates resisted all antimicrobial drugs tested. The resistant rates for each drug were as follow: tetracycline (78.4%), amoxicillin (51.0%), nalidixic acid (27.5%), sulfamethoxazole- trimethoprim (23.5%), gentamicin (7.8%), norfoxacin (5.9%), and ciprofoxacin (5.9 %). Conclusion: This study indicated that Salmonella spp. could be found in dogs with and without diarrhea. Some of the isolated Salmonella serovars are known as a causative agent for human salmonellosis. In addition, most of the isolated Salmonella serovars were resistant to many antimicrobials used in human and veterinary medicine.

thaï. วัตถุประสงค์   เพื่อหาความชุก ซีโรวาร์ ของเชื้อซัลโมเนลลาที่แยกได้จากสุนัขในจังหวัดขอนแก่น และทดสอบการดื้อยาของเชื้อดังกล่าวต่อยาต้านจุลชีพ 7 ชนิด วัสดุ อุปกรณ์ และวิธีการ   เก็บตัวอย่างอุจจาระจากสุนัขที่มารับการรักษาในคลีนิกรักษาสัตว์  ด้วยวิธี rectal swab จำนวน 428 ตัวอย่าง ระหว่างเดือนมกราคม พ.ศ. 2556 – ธันวาคม พ.ศ.2558 ทำการตรวจแยกและวินิจฉัยเชื้อซัลโมเนลลาด้วย วิธี ISO 6579:2002 จากนั้นทดสอบการดื้อของเชื้อซัลโมเนลลาต่อยาต้านจุลชีพ 7  ชนิด ด้วยวิธี disk diffusion  test ได้แก่ chloramphenicol, norfloxacin, ciprofloxacin, gentamicin, sulfamethoxazole-trimethoprim and tetracycline. ผลการศึกษา พบความชุกของเชื้อซัลโมเนลลาทั้งในสุนัขที่มีและไม่มีอาการท้องร่วง11.92%(51/428) จำแนกได้ 22 ซีโรวาร์ โดยซีโรวาร์ที่พบมากที่สุดได้แก่ S. Typhimurium (19.60%) S. Weltevreden (15.69%) และ S. Give (9.80%) ตามลำดับ เชื้อที่แยกได้มีอัตราการดื้อต่อยาต้านจุลชีพ เรียงลำดับจากมากไปน้อยดังนี้ tetracycline (78.4%), amoxicillin (51.0%), nalidixic acid (27.5%), sulfamethoxazole-trimethoprim (23.5%),  gentamicin (7.8%), norfloxacin (5.9%), และ ciprofloxacin (5.9 %) ข้อสรุป  การศึกษานี้พบว่า เชื้อซัลโมเนลลาสามารถแยกได้จากสุนัขทั้งในสุนัขปกติที่มีและไม่มีอาการท้องร่วง บางซีโรวาร์ที่พบเป็นชนิดเดียวกับซีโรวาร์ที่ก่อโรคในมนุษย์ นอกจากนี้ ยังพบว่าเชื้อที่แยกได้มีสัดส่วนการดื้อต่อยาต้านจุลชีพหลายชนิดที่ใช้ในการรักษาโรคในทางการแพทย์และทางสัตวแพทย์
