Production of the Leading Oil Crops in the Republic of Serbia

The production of oil crops has shown a growing tendency over the last two decades. Events on the domestic market of oilseeds have a significant influence on events on the international market of oilseeds, as well as general socio-economic events and international crises. We must also not forget the impact of climate change, which in recent years has become increasingly pronounced and with increasing consequences on food production, both at the international and domestic levels. Precisely climate changes, in addition to other factors, largely determine the choice of oil crops that will be grown on the farm. There is also a trend of diversification of production on the farms, which arises as a result of climate changes and market conditions and which leads to fragmentation of the areas sown under a certain culture. Resistance to increasingly frequent occurrences of drought largely determines under which oilseed crops the arable land will be sown. The weather conditions that prevail during the vegetation period also have multiple effects on the production and yields of oilseeds, which were all the subject of research, the results of which are presented in this scientific paper.
