bulgare. The study is based оп long lasting field experiment with maize аt systematic fertilization with nitrogen, phosphorus апа potassium. The aim of this investigation is to assess thе risk for the yield as a result of varying weather conditions and to suggest appropriate fertilization rates, in which it is minimal.The results show that yields of maize grain grown on dark gray forest soil in the region of Targovishte are the result оf complex influence of both theе weather and the nutrition condition. The extreme weather conditions are а major source of risk in growth апа development of maize. The most stable, though not the highest yields of corn in a dark gray forest_soil in the region of Targovishte, are obtained аt fertilization rates N6P4K12. N12РОКО апа N12P8K12. In years with law winter supply of soil moisture and high content of readily available nitrogen and phosphorus, can be recommended variant N6P4K12. Although coefficients of variation for these three options аге approximately equal, to maintain the nutrition conditions of the soil in crop rotation аt а level suitable for growing maize in the region and overcoming the consequences of unilateral nitrogen fertilization, the recommended rate should remain N12P8K12. Further increase of fertilization rates leads to increased risk of the yield.
