Moisture supply and soil fertility in the windbreak system of the Right-Bank Forest-Steppe | Вологозабезпеченість і родючість ґрунту в системі лісових смуг Правобережного Лісостепу

The moisture availability and nutrient content in the soil were studied, and the level of soil acidity in the system of field protection strips of the Right-Bank Forest-Steppe of Ukraine was determined. A number of studies have been carried out within the framework of the ecotone, the role of which is essential in the context of global climate change, and the data obtained as a result of the research is presented. The positive impact of shelterbelts of 20-23 m in height in the zone of ecotone landscapes on the physical and chemical properties of the soil was found, although a decrease in crop yields was observed. The anti-erosion efficiency of the plantations was determined by comparing moisture reserves, acidity levels, as well as humus, total nitrogen, potassium, and phosphorus reserves in the arable soil horizon protected by anti-erosion forest strips. Soil moisture was determined by the gravimetric method. The study revealed a positive impact of forest belts on the condition of agricultural soils in the Right-Bank Forest-Steppe of Ukraine. It was found that the soil microclimate in the experimental fields with winter wheat (Triticum aestivum L.), maize (Zea mays L.) and annual sunflower (Helianthus annuus L.) can be defined as humid within ecotone landscapes and controls. The climatic and soil conditions of the region were characterized based on the average long-term data of 1991-2020. The nutrient content was analyzed, including the content of mobile nitrogen NO3, potassium K2O and phosphorus P2O5. The average humus content is low (2.3 %), which is typical for this soil type. There is a decrease in humus in the upper 0-20 cm soil layer compared to its presence in the 0-40 cm soil layer. The reaction of the soil solution is neutral, i.e. the acidity level is within the normal range and averages 6.3 pH. We analyzed the reserves of total and available soil moisture, which are 67.9 and 41.2 mm respectively within the ecotone and 67.2 and 40.6 mm in the control. We can observe a decrease in moisture reserves, although the percentage difference in moisture reserves in the control is quite insignificant relative to the data within the ecotone – 0.7 mm in total moisture reserves and 0.6 mm in available moisture reserves. The values of soil moisture within the ecotone at a distance from the field protection forest strips (from 5 to 20 m) also have a rather insignificant difference.

ukrainien. Досліджено вологозабезпеченість та вміст поживних речовин у ґрунті, а також визначено рівень кислотності ґрунтів в системі полезахисних смуг Правобережного Лісостепу України. Проведено ряд досліджень в межах дії екотону, значення якого має істотне значення в умовах глобальних змін клімату, та представлено дані, отриманні внаслідок проведених досліджень. З'ясовано позитивний вплив полезахисних лісових смуг висотою 20-23 м у зоні дії екотонних ландшафтів на фізико-хімічні властивості ґрунту, проте простежується зниження врожайності сільськогосподарських культур. Протиерозійну ефективність насаджень визначали шляхом порівняння запасів вологи, рівнем кислотності, а також запасів гумусу, загального азоту, калію та фосфору в орному горизонті ґрунту, захищеному протиерозійними лісовими смугами. Вологість ґрунту визначали за гравіметричним методом. Дослідженнями виявлено позитивний вплив лісосмуг на стан сільськогосподарських ґрунтів Правобережного Лісостепу України. Встановлено, що мікроклімат ґрунту на дослідних полях з посівами пшениці озимої (Triticum aestivum L.), кукурудзи звичайної (Zea mays L.) та соняшнику однорічного (Helianthus annuus L.) можна визначити як вологий в межах екотонних ландшафтів та контролі. Охарактеризовано кліматичні та ґрунтові умови регіону за середньо багаторічними даними 1991-2020 рр. Розглянуто вміст поживних речовин, в тому числі, вміст рухомого азоту NO3, калію К2О та фосфору Р2О5. Середній вміст гумусу являється низьким (2,3 %), що характерно для даного типу ґрунту. Простежується зменшення гумусу в верхньому 0-20 см шарі ґрунту порівняно з наявністю його у 0-40 см шарі ґрунту. Реакція ґрунтового розчину – нейтральна, тобто рівень кислотності в межах норми та в середньому становить 6,3 рН. Проаналізовано запаси загальної та доступної вологи ґрунтів, які відповідно становлять 67,9 і 41,2 мм у межах екотону та 67,2 і 40,6 мм у контролі. Спостерігаємо зменшення запасів вологи, хоч і частку різниці запасу вологи в контролі є досить незначним, відносно даних у межах екотону – 0,7 мм при запасах загальної вологи та 0,6 мм при запасах доступної вологи. Значення вологості ґрунтів у межах екотону на відстані від полезахисних лісових смуг (від 5 до 20 м) також мають досить не істотну різницю.
