Evaluation of local and regional anesthesia during rumenotomy in cows and buffaloes referred to Veterinary Teaching Hospital in Mosul

This study included eight adult female of local breed cows (4) and buffalos (4) brought to Veterinary Teaching Hospital at University of Mosul to evaluate the efficacy of local and regional anesthesia and compare between them after determined the clinical conditions of each it and diagnosed as different conditions and types of foreign bodies syndrome and were need to surgical interventions. Rumenotomy was performed under protocol of sedation of intravenous Xylazine (0.05mg \kg Bwt). Afterward paravertebral nerve block was performed in first group and linear infiltration performed with lidocain 2% in second group, the quality of anesthesia and analgesia was estimate in each group and compare between them. The results of present clinical study exhibited that, the rumenotomy was performed in all operative animals under sedation and local or regional anesthesia with out complications and side effects in standing position a long the time of operation. The quality of anesthesia with paraverebral technique good and was fast induction and loss of body reflexes during (10min) and the duration was long (76.5min) as contrast, the onset of action and loss of reflexes with second group was (14.3) and analgesia long for (48.25min). There are no significant changes in Physical parameters through this study between the groups except there are significant decrease in respiratory rate between two groups at the time 15 min of injection in G1 was (23.8±1.16) min as a contrast, in G2 was (20.5±1.3) min. We can concluded that the quality of anesthesia and analgesia achieved with paraverebral nerve block was suitable clinically for performance long surgical laporotomy and rumenotomy.
