Mating experiments were performed to elucidate the distribution of perfect state of Microsporum gypseum complex originating from animals and soils in Korea. A total of 30 strains of M. gypseum complex, composed of 16 from animals and 14 from soils, mated with the tester strains of Nannizzia incurvata, N. gypsea and N. fulva. Among 30 strains of M. gypseum complex examined, 16 strains (53.3%) were N. incurvata, 13 strains (43.3%) N. gypsea and 1 strain (3.3%) N. fulva. Among 13 strains of dog isolates, 8 strains (61.5%) were N. incurvata and 5 strains (38.5%) N. gypsea. And each strain isolated from Korean native goat, monkey and albino rat was N. gypsea. Among 14 strains of soil isolates, 8 strains (57.2%) were N. incurvata, 5 strains (35.7%) N. gypsea and 1 strain (7.2%) N. fulva. And - mating type was more frequently obseved than + mating type in the strains of N. incurvata and N. gypsea. By this study, N. fulva was isolated the first time in Korea.

This study has been carried out to investigate the augmenting or inhibiting effects of histamine, 5-hydroxytryptamine and their antagonists on the uterine motility. The uterine motility was represented by the magnitude of impulse and the frequency of uterine contraction which was counted by the number of waves on the recording paper. The inhibitory effect of phenoxybenzamine on the response to 5-hydroxytryptamine is the result of drug antagonism. Histamine stimlates or inhibits the motility of smooth muscle through H1 or H2-receptor. The uterine motility was increased through H1-receptor. Histamine induced relaxation by acting through H2-receptor.

Fischer-344 rats were exposed for 4 hours to 0, 14, 280, or 560 mg of hydrogen sulfide.m-3 and killed 1, 18, or 44 hours later. We evaluated the nasal epithelial cells and determined the anatomic distribution of lesions. Inhalation of 560 mg of hydrogen sulfide.m-3 induced necrosis and exfoliation of respiratory and olfactory mucosal cells, but not squamous epithelial cells. The anatomic distribution of lesions was midway along the nasal passages involving nasal and maxillary conchae, but not ethmoidal conchae. Injured respiratory mucosa repaired rapidly, whereas olfactory mucosa continued to exfoliate at 44 hours after exposure.
