Studies on the physiological properties of the histamine receptor of ileal smooth muscle in dog
1984
Kim, J.H. (Kyongsang National Univ., Chinju (Korea R.). Dept. of Veterinary Medicine) | Park, Y.B. (Seoul National Univ., Seoul (Korea R.). Coll. of Medicine) | Kwun, J.K. (Seoul National Univ., Suwon (Korea R.). Coll. of Veterinary Medicine)
To validate the physiological properties of the histamine receptors of ileal smooth muscle in dog, the effect of adrenergic, cholineric and H-receptor antagonists on the responses of ileal smooth muscle strips to histamine were investigated. Histamine caused the contraction of ileal smooth muscle and the contractile responses increased between the concentration of histamine (10-7M and 10-5 M) with dosedependent manner in dog. The shorter the treatment interval of histamine, the lower the contractile activity until the treatment interval extended to 40 minutes

1984
Yoo, H.S. | Mah, J.S. (Seoul National Univ., Suwon (Korea R.). Coll of Veterinary Medicine)
To investigate the factors influencing the artificial transformation in Escherichia coli, E. coli C 600 was transformed by pBR322 DNA with tetracycline and ampicillin resistant gene purified by CsCL-EtBr equilibrium density gradient centrifugation from E. coli HB 101. The best conditions for the transformation of E. coli C 600 with pBR322 DNA were treatment with 100mM CaCl2, ice incubation at 0 deg C for 45 minutes, heat shock at 42 deg C for 4 min., 30 min. of ice incubation and incubation at 37 deg C for 100 min. for gene expression in that order

1984
Kang, B.K. | Son, S.W. (Chonnam National Univ., Kwangju (Korea R.). Coll. of Agriculture)
Gross and histological findings were obtained on cysts formed in the reproductive organs, particularly in the mesosalpinx, mesovarium, and fimbria, of 144 gilts and 37 sows. Of the 181 gilts and sows, 63 (34.8%) were found to have cysts which totaled 89. The number of cysts totaled 38 for the gilts and 51 for the sows, with relative frequencies of 18.1% 48.6%, respectively. The total number of cysts and the incidence were greater in the sows than in the gilts

1984
Jee, C.H. | Jang, D.H. | Youn, H.J. (Seoul National Univ., Suwon (Korea R.). Coll. of Veterinary Medicine)
In the evaluation of anthelmintic efficacy by fecal egg counts for cattle naturally infected with helminths, the reasonable technique of fecal egg counts and the reliable guidelines were determined. Modified technique of Harashigeru and Kim's sedimental tube was the most reasonable in fluke egg counts. Universal egg counting technique was preciser than McMaster egg counting technique and was lower in coefficient variation. Fecal egg counts of pretreatment should be carried out twice and mean of the egg should be calculated

1984
Choi, C.S. | Kim, J.H. | Yoon, Y.D. (Institute of Veterinary Research, Dept. of Bacteriology)
To investigate the sensitivity of repeat tuberculin test with bovine PPD, seibert's fraction A(SFA) and avian PPD tuberculins in visible and non-visible lesion reactor cattle to HCSM tuberculin. The comparative test, under the condition of this experiment, was entirely unsatisfactory to differentiate between visible and non-visible lesion cases, the high frequency distribution of the skin fold thickness greater than 10mm to SFA tuberculin appeared in visible lesion cases, whereas the skin reaction 1 less than 4mm to the SFA tuberculin appeared in NVL cases

1984
Kwak, S.D. (Kyongsang National Univ., Chinju (Korea R.). Coll. of Agriculture) | Jyong, J.S. | Kwun, H.I. | Jo, Y.J. (Kyongbuk Animal Health Experimental Inst.) | Lee, C.S. (Kyongbuk National Univ., Taegu (Korea R.). Coll. of Agriculture)
This study was undertaken to investigate congenital microphthalmia that occurred at a pig farm in Kyongbuk Korea [R.]. These microphthalmic piglets composed of 20 piglets farrowed by 3 different sows (1, 11 and 8 piglets by No. 1,2 and 3 sow, respectively) that were apparently normal during pregnancy and after parturition. Attempts were made to know epidemiological findings and histopathological changes of these piglets

1984
Lim, Y.J. (Yongin Farm Land Animal and Hospital, Yongin (Korea R.)) | Shozo, S. (Tokyo Univ. of Agriculture Tokyo (Japan))
The hemoglobin phenotype and the gene frequencies of 44 Formosan deer (Cervus nippon) in Kyunggido Korea [R.] area were examined by using cellulose acetate and starch gel electrophoresis. The method of cellulose acetate electrophoresis was simpler, more clear and preserative than starch gel electrophoresis. The hemoglobin phenotype had 3 types as (HbF) (HbFS and HbS). The frequencies of appearence were HbF 47.7% HbFS 47.7% and HbS 4.5%, respectively. The genetic factors of hemoglobin were observed as HbF and HbS and the rates of gene frequencies were 71.6% and 28.4% respectively

1984
Kang, Y.B. (Office of Rural Development, Anyang (Korea R.). Inst. of Veterinary Research) | Jang, D.W. (Seoul National Univ., Suwon (Korea R.). Dept. of Veterinary Medicine)
Scanning electron microscope (model; SEM ISI-DS-130) was used to observe the fine surface structures of the predominant cattle tick Haemaphysalis longicornis Neumann 1901 (Acarina; Ixodidae) in Korea R. and some SEM microphotographs were presented in this pictorial monograph. A total of 18 photographs was selected from the numerous SEM photographs of the female and male specimens of H. longicornis for the observations of the fine surface structure and the comparison between the female and male structures

1984
Lee, H.B. | Lee, K.W. | Park, H.Y. | Kwon, O.D. (Kyongbuk National Univ., Taegu (Korea R.). Dept. of Veterinary Medicine)
Authors observed an outbreak of porcine pleuropneumonia at a piggery in Kyongbuk, Korea R. which were diagnosed on the ground of clinical and pathological findings. Main clinical findings observed from 60 alive pigs from group consisted of fever, cyanosis severe degree of dyspnea and pleuritic friction rub. Hematological observation for typical 5 cases leukocytes showed marked degenerative left shift with leukopenia (10500-13070/cmm), neutropenia (7-13% and increase in the number of band neutrophils (6-27%)

1984
Cho, S.W. (Chungnam National Univ., Taejon (Korea R.). Dept. of Histology) | Lee, C.S. (Kyongbuk National Univ., Taegu (Korea R.). Dept. of Veterinary Medicine)
This paper deals with the histopathological observations of the perirenal edema in pigs and rabbits administered with Amaranthus retroflexus, based on the clinical and pathological observations of the porcine perirenal edema naturally occurring in Korea R. In the natural case, clinical signs are trembling, weakness and incoordination of the hindquarters, followed by sternal recumbency, coma and death. Death usually occurs within 24 hrs after the appearance of illness signs
