Мета. Оцінити екологічну пластичність урожайності проса посівного в умовах Степу, Лісостепу та Полісся України. Методи. Математико-статистичні: визначення стабільності та пластичності за методикою Ебергарда–Рассела, кореляційний аналіз. Результати. За результатами кореляційного аналізу посівних площ проса посівного за період 2011–2020 рр. визначено, що площі під посівами проса посівного в Україні залежать від світових (r = 0,34). Визначено, що високий рівень урожайності проса посівного отримано в зоні Лісостепу, а саме в Полтавській, Хмельницькій, Черкаській, Сумській та Харківській областях (2,20–2,51 т/га). Достатньо високі показники отримано у Вінницькій, Київській (зона Лісостепу) та Кіровоградській (зона Степу) областях (1,86–2,02 т/га). Низьку врожайність за 10 років відзначено у Рівненській, Житомирській та Волинській областях, які належать до зони Полісся (1,09–1,34 т/га). Показано, що протягом 2011–2015 рр. висока варіабельність урожайності проса спостерігалася в Хмельницькій, Вінницькій та Волинській областях. Коефіцієнт варіації становив 42,0–71,3%. У 2016–2020 рр. найбільшу варіацію відзначено в Донецькій, Волинській та Одеській областях. Коефіцієнт варіації – 31,8–43,9%. Визначено, що за період 2011–2015 рр. високою пластичністю врожайності проса посівного характеризуються Вінницька, Донецька, Київська, Кіровоградська, Сумська, Харківська, Хмельницька, Черкаська та Полтавська області. У проміжок із 2016 до 2020 рр. високу пластичність ознаки врожайності відзначено у Вінницькій, Київській, Харківській, Полтавській, Черкаській, Сумській та Хмельницькій областях. Висновки. За результатами проведених досліджень установлено, що під час скорочення посівних площ під просом посівним у світі, обсяг його виробництва в Україні збільшується. Визначено, що найбільша врожайність просо посівного за досліджувані роки отримана в зоні Лісостепу. Відповідно до розрахованої пластичності врожайності проса посівного визначено, що для реалізації біологічного потенціалу сприятливі умови були в Донецькій та Кіровоградській областях зони Степу, у лісостеповій зоні – Полтавська, Київська, Харківська, Хмельницька, Черкаська та Сумська області.

The article gives analysis of practical value of soybean varieties according to productivity and ecological plasticity in different climatic provinces of Ukraine. Ecological estimation of soybean varieties by the methodology of Eberhart and Rassel has been made. This estimation helped to determine variety plasticity and potential to adaptability. It has been established that varieties Almaz and Diona were the best according to the results of ecological research of varieties. The most favourable regions for cultivation of up-to-date soybean varieties have been chosen. Variety Almaz has been defined as the most intensive and plastic soybean variety (average yield during research years was 2.66–2.93 t/hа). Varieties Antratsit and Ametist also have shown high plasticity. The article gives rank estimation of practical value of soybean varieties on the basis of grain productivity.It has been established that all examined varieties had high economic value – coefficient of agronomic stability is higher than 70%.Variety Almaz has the greatest selective value according to homeostatic character. Almaz is the most intensive variety with maximal plasticity grown in Poltava region.Varieties with high indices of adaptability and plasticity which are very valuable for selection and practical use have been singled out.

Мета. Порівняльна оцінка за врожайністю та адаптивністю сортів ячменю ярого Миронівського інституту пшениці імені В. М. Ремесла НААН різних років реєстрації. Методи. Дослідження проведені в Миронівському інституті пшениці імені В. М. Ремесла НААН у 2013–2017 рр. відповідно до загальноприйнятих методик. Об’єкт досліджень – 19 сортів ячменю ярого миронівської селекції зареєстрованих в Україні за період 1995–2017 рр. Для характеристики взаємодії генотип–середовище та диференціації сортів за врожайністю і стабільністю використали низку найбільш поширених підходів: S. A. Eberhart, W. A. Russel (1966); G. Wricke (1962); C. S. Lin, M. R. Binns (1988); M. Huehn (1990); А. В. Кильчевский, Л. В. Хотылёва (1985); В. В. Хангильдин, Н. А. Литвиненко (1981); J. L. Purchase та ін. (2000); AMMI; GGE biplot. Результати. Частка умов року досліджень у загальній варіації становила 83,40%. Достовірні, але суттєво нижчі значення мали генотип – 10,65% та взаємодія генотип–середовище – 5,95%. Перші дві головні компоненти GGE biplot пояснювали дещо більшу частку взаємодії генотип–середовище (85,58%) порівняно з AMMI моделлю (80,9%). Кореляційний аналіз виявив, що середня врожайність (Mean) мала вищесередній зв’язок як з максимальним (Max) (r = 0,69), так і мінімальним (Mіn) (r = 0,72) її значеннями. Сильну позитивну кореляцію Mean виявлено з парамет­рами: СЦГі (r = 0,88), Hom (r = 0,86), Sc (r = 0,82). Дуже сильний негативний зв’язок Mean відзначено з Pi (r = -0,96). Для Max середній негативний зв’язок спостерігали лише з Pi (r = -0,60). Mіn сильно корелювала з Sc (r = 0,96), СЦГі (r = 0,87), Hom (r = 0,84). Негативну сильну кореляцію відзначено Min з Sgi (r = -0,86). Між деякими показниками виявлено зв’язок від функціонального позитивного: δ2CAЗi і Кgi (r = 1,00), Wi і Lgi (r = 0,98), СЦГі і Hom (r = 0,98), СЦГі і Sc (r = 0,96), S2di і Wi (r = 0,96), Wi і ASV (r = 0,94), Sc і Hom (r = 0,94), δ2CAЗi і bi (r = 0,93), S2di і ASV (r = 0,93) до сильного негативного: Sgi іСЦГі (r = -0,94), Sgi і Sc(r = -0,92), Sgi і Hom (r = -0,91), Pi і СЦГі (r = -0,83), Pi і Sc (r = -0,80), Pi і Hom (r = -0,79). Висновки. Системна порівняльна оцінка статистичними і графічними підходами свідчить, що внесені до Державного реєстру сортів рослин, придатних для поширення в Україні у 2016–2017 рр. сорти ячменю ярого ‘Віраж’, ‘Талісман Миронівський’, ‘МІП Мирний’, ‘МІП Салют’, ‘МІП Сотник’, ‘МІП Азарт’, ‘МІП Богун’ переважають створені на попередніх етапах селекційної роботи сорти як за продуктивним, так і адаптивним потенціалом.

This study aimed to evaluate the performance and stability of agronomic and grain quality traits of 11 spring barley varieties from the Latvian breeding programme grown in two locations for four years. The study was carried out on 11 Latvian spring barley varieties: nine covered varieties ‘Abava’, ‘Ansis’, ‘Austris’, ‘Didzis’, ‘Gāte’, ‘Idumeja’, ‘Jumara’, ‘Kristaps’, and ‘Saule PR’ and two hull-less varieties ‘Irbe’ and ‘Kornelija’. Plants of the varieties were grown in field trials of the Institute of Agricultural Resources and Economics, at two sites (Priekuïi and Stende) during 2014–2017. Varieties ‘Didzis’, ‘Jumara’, and ‘Ansis’ yielded significantly above the grand mean in eight environments (5.70 t·ha⁻¹; LSD = 0.476 t·ha⁻¹). ‘Didzis’ showed relatively high dynamic yield stability and broad adaptability to all environments (bᵢ = 0.90; b = 1; s²d = 0.07). Grain yield for varieties ‘Jumara’ and ‘Ansis’ showed specific adaptability to unfavourable environments (bᵢ = 0.48 and 0.55, respectively; bᵢ < 1). Some covered spring barley varieties were considered to be the best in eight environments with stable and high 1000 grain weight (‘Austris’, ‘Idumeja’), test weight (‘Gāte’, ‘Jumara’, ‘Austris’), lodging resistance (‘Austris’, ‘Jumara’, ‘Didzis’), resistance to Pyrenophora teres (‘Didzis’, ‘Saule PR’) and Blumeria graminis (‘Saule PR’, ‘Didzis’). Both hull-less barley varieties ‘Irbe’ and ‘Kornelija’ were distinguished for high crude protein and ß-glucan content.

BACKGROUND: Developing drought-tolerant crops critically depends on the efficient response of a genotype to the limited water availability, a trait known as phenological plasticity. Our understanding of the phenological plasticity remains limited, in particular, about its relationships with plant developmental program. Here, we examined the plastic response of spring wheat at tillering, booting, heading, and anthesis stages to constant or periodic drought stress. The response was assessed by morphological and physiological parameters including symptoms. RESULTS: The dynamics of morphological symptoms were indicators of the plasticity identification of drought. We found that spring wheat exhibits higher phenological plasticity during tillering stage followed by the heading stage, while booting and anthesis stages are the most sensitive. Also, the adaptive response is thought to be influenced with the plant height genes. Furthermore, periodic stress caused more pronounced inhibition of yield than the constant stress, with limited resistance resolution under long period. CONCLUSIONS: Our study shows the importance of considering the phenological plasticity in designing screens for drought tolerance in spring wheat and proposes tillering as the most informative stage for capturing genotypes with tolerance to limit water availability.

Plants respond to environmental conditions not only by plastic changes to their own development and physiology, but also by altering the phenotypes expressed by their offspring. This transgenerational plasticity was initially considered to entail only negative effects of stressful parental environments, such as production of smaller seeds by resource- or temperature-stressed parent plants, and was therefore viewed as environmental noise. Recent evolutionary ecology studies have shown that in some cases, these inherited environmental effects can include specific growth adjustments that are functionally adaptive to the parental conditions that induced them, which can range from contrasting states of controlled laboratory environments to the complex habitat variation encountered by natural plant populations. Preliminary findings suggest that adaptive transgenerational effects can be transmitted by means of diverse mechanisms including changes to seed provisioning and biochemistry, and epigenetic modifications such as DNA methylation that can persist across multiple generations. These non-genetically inherited adaptations can influence the ecological breadth and evolutionary dynamics of plant taxa and promote the spread of invasive plants. Interdisciplinary studies that join mechanistic and evolutionary ecology approaches will be an important source of future insights.

Purpose. To estimate the ecological plasticity of common millet yield under conditions of Steppe, Forest-Steppe and Forest of Ukraine. Methods. Mathematical and statistical: determination of stability and plasticity by Eberhart & Russell method, correlation analysis. Results. As a result of correlation analysis of millet cultivated areas during the period of 2011?2020, it was revealed that cultivated areas in Ukraine depend on the world ones (r = 0.34). It was determined that a high level of common millet yield was obtained in the forest-steppe zone, namely in Poltava, Khmelnytskyi, Cherkasy, Sumy and Kharkiv regions (2.20?2.51 t/ha). Quite high rates of yield were obtained in Vinnytsia, Kyiv (Forest-Steppe zone) and Kirovohrad (Steppe zone) regions (1.86?2.02 t/ha). Low yield over 10 years was noted in Rivne, Zhytomyr and Volyn regions, which belong to the Forrest zone (1.09?1.34 t/ha). It is shown that during 2011?2015 high variability of millet yield was observed in Khmelnytskyi, Vinnytsia and Volyn regions. The coefficient of variation was 42.0?71.3%. During 2016?2020 significant variation was noted in Donetsk, Volyn and Odesa regions. The coefficient of variation was 31.8?43.9%. In the period from 2016 to 2020, high plasticity of the yield trait was noted in Vinnitsa, Kyiv, Kharkiv, Poltava, Cherkasy, Sumy and Khmelnitsky regions. During 2016?2020 high plasticity trait of millet yield was in Vinnytsia, Kyiv, Sumy, Kharkiv, Khmelnytskyi, Cherkasy and Poltava regions. Conclusions. According to the results of the studies, it was found that with a reduction in the area under millet in the world, the volume of its production in Ukraine increases. It was determined that the hig?hest yield of millet was obtained in the Forest-Steppe zone during the years of observation. The inconsistent prevalence of abiotic stress in most of the agroecosystems can be addressed through deployment of plant material with stress adaptive plasticity. The present study explores water stress induced plasticity for early root-shoot development, proline induction and cell membrane injury in 57 accessions of Aegilops tauschii (DD-genome) and 26 accessions of Triticum dicoccoides (AABB-genome) along with durum and bread wheat cultivars. Thirty three Ae. tauschii accessions and 18 T. dicoccoides accessions showed an increase in root dry weight (ranging from 1.8 to 294.75%) under water stress. Shoot parameters- length and biomass, by and large were suppressed by water stress, but genotypes with stress adaptive plasticity leading to improvement of shoot traits (e.g., Ae tauschii accession 14191 and T. dicoccoides accession 7130) could be identified. Water stress induced active responses, rather than passive repartitioning of biomass was indicated by better shoot growth in seedlings of genotypes with enhanced root growth under stress. Membrane injury seemed to work as a trigger to activate water stress adaptive cellular machinery and was found positively correlated with several root-shoot based adaptive responses in seedlings. Stress induced proline accumulation in leaf tissue showed marked inter- and intra-specific genetic variation but hardly any association with stress adaptive plasticity. Genotypic variation for early stage plasticity traits viz., change in root dry weight, shoot length, shoot fresh weight, shoot dry weight and membrane injury positively correlated with grain weight based stress tolerance index (r = 0.267, r = 0.404, r = 0.299, r = 0.526, and r = 0.359, respectively). In another such trend, adaptive seedling plasticity correlated positively with resistance to early flowering under stress (r = 0.372 with membrane injury, r = 0.286 with change in root length, r = 0.352 with change in shoot length, r = 0.268 with change in shoot dry weight). Overall, Ae. tauschii accessions 9816, 14109, 14128, and T. dicoccoides accessions 5259 and 7130 were identified as potential donors of stress adaptive plasticity. The prospect of the study for molecular marker tagging, cloning of plasticity genes and creation of elite synthetic hexaploid donors is discussed.

The article devotes to the stages of formation of plant collection of park of landscape and gardening art of local importance “arboretum State variety network” located in the village Oguyivka of Mashevka district of Poltava region.

Purpose. To analyze lines of competitive testing of soft spring wheat in terms of ecological plasticity and stability using statistical methods of analysis and identify lines with high stability of grain yield.Methods. The studies were carried out during 2018–2020, on the basis of the V. M. Remeslo Myronivka Institute of Wheat NAAS of Ukraine. When considering the results obtained, generally accepted methods of genetic and statistical analysis were used.Results. Evaluation of breeding material in different years makes it possible to obtain information about the characteristics of the reaction of genotypes to changes in environmental conditions. As a result of the studies, it was found that the lines Lutescens 14-32 (bi = 0.59), Erythrospermum 15-32 (bi = 0.44), Lutescens 14-47 (bi = 0.22) were of high plasticity. Calculations of ecological stability indicate that lines are considered stable, the variance of stability is zero or close to zero. From a practical point of view, lines with a combined manifestation of high ecological plasticity and stability are considered valuable. This was the line Erythro­spermum 15-32 (bi = 0.44; S2di = 0.01) that indicates its low reaction rate and the ability to provide a consistently high level of yield under any growing conditions. The most valuable are the genotypes that combine a low level of the coefficient of variation, high homeostaticity and bree­ding value, which include the lines Erythrospermum 15-32 (Hom = 206.42, Sc = 4.11), Lutescens 14-47 (Hom = 98.41, Sc = 3.91), Erythrospermum 17-08 (Hom = 78.57, Sc = 3.76), Erythrospermum 14-65 (Hom = 54.84, Sc = 3.75), Lutescens 14-32 (Hom = 54.60, Sc = 4.17), Lutescens 14-13 (Hom = 35.60, Sc = 3.78), Lutescens 14-48 (Hom = 46.66, Sc = 3.58).Conclusions. The evaluation of breeding material is of great importance when creating new high-performance varieties with adaptive potential. The method for assessing ecological plasticity and variants of its stability made it possible to differentiate wheat lines of soft spring competitive testing by their response to changes in gro­wing conditions. For a more optimal selection of breeding material in terms of ecological plasticity and stability, breeding programs should take into account ranked estimates of genotypes. | Мета. Використовуючи статистичні методи, проаналізувати за показниками екологічної пластичності та стабільності лінії конкурсного випробування пшениці м’якої ярої і виявити серед них такі, що вирізняються високою стабільністю врожайності зерна.Методи. У процесі оброблення отриманих результатів послуговувалися загально­прийнятими методами генетико-статистичного аналізу.Результати. Оцінка селекційного матеріалу в різні роки дає змогу отримати інформацію щодо особливостей реакції генотипів на зміну екологічних умов. У результаті проведених досліджень встановлено, що високопластичними є лінії Lutescens 14-32 (bi = 0,59), Erythrospermum 15-32  (bi = 0,44) і Lutescens 14-47 (bi = 0,22). За розрахунками, екологічно стабільними вважають лінії, варіанса стабільності яких дорівнює нулю (S2di = 0,00) або близька до нуля (S2di = 0,01). З погляду практичності цінними є лінії із сукупним проявом високої екологічної пластичності та стабільності, а саме: Erythrospermum 15-32 (bi = 0,44; S2di = 0,01), що має низьку норму реакції та може забезпечувати незмінно високий рівень врожайності за будь-яких умов вирощування. Найціннішими є генотипи, що поєднують у собі низький рівень коефіцієнта варіації (CV ≤ 10,0%), високу гомеостатичність і селекційну цінність. Серед них – лінії Erythrospermum 15-32 (Hom = 206,42, Sc = 4,11), Lutescens 14-47 (Hom = 98,41, Sc = 3,91), Erythrospermum 17-08 (Hom = 78,57, Sc = 3,76), Erythrospermum 14-65 (Hom = 54,84, Sc = 3,75), Lutescens 14-32 (Hom = 54,60, Sc = 4,17), Lutescens 14-13 (Hom = 35,60, Sc = 3,78) і Lutescens 14-48 (Hom = 46,66, Sc = 3,58).Висновки. Оцінка селекційного матеріалу має важливе значення для створення нових високопродуктивних сортів з адаптивним потенціалом. Метод оцінки екологічної пластичності та варіанси її стабільності дав змогу диференціювати лінії пшениці м’якої ярої конкурсного випробування за реакцією на зміну умов вирощування. Для оптимальнішого відбору селекційного матеріалу за показниками екологічної пластичності та стабільності у селекційних програмах слід враховувати ранжовані оцінки генотипів.

Untangling the genetic architecture of grain yield (GY) and yield stability is an important determining factor to optimize genomics-assisted selection strategies in wheat. We conducted in-depth investigation on the above using a large set of advanced bread wheat lines (4,302), which were genotyped with genotyping-by-sequencing markers and phenotyped under contrasting (irrigated and stress) environments. Haplotypes-based genome-wide-association study (GWAS) identified 58 associations with GY and 15 with superiority index Pi (measure of stability). Sixteen associations with GY were “environment-specific” with two on chromosomes 3B and 6B with the large effects and 8 associations were consistent across environments and trials. For Pi, 8 associations were from chromosomes 4B and 7B, indicating ‘hot spot’ regions for stability. Epistatic interactions contributed to an additional 5–9% variation on average. We further explored whether integrating consistent and robust associations identified in GWAS as fixed effects in prediction models improves prediction accuracy. For GY, the model accounting for the haplotype-based GWAS loci as fixed effects led to up to 9–10% increase in prediction accuracy, whereas for Pi this approach did not provide any advantage. This is the first report of integrating genetic architecture of GY and yield stability into prediction models in wheat.

Мета. Оцінити екологічну пластичність урожайності проса посівного в умовах Степу, Лісостепу та Полісся України. Методи. Математико-статистичні: визначення стабільності та пластичності за методикою Ебергарда–Рассела, кореляційний аналіз. Результати. За результатами кореляційного аналізу посівних площ проса посівного за період 2011–2020 рр. визначено, що площі під посівами проса посівного в Україні залежать від світових (r = 0,34). Визначено, що високий рівень урожайності проса посівного отримано в зоні Лісостепу, а саме в Полтавській, Хмельницькій, Черкаській, Сумській та Харківській областях (2,20–2,51 т/га). Достатньо високі показники отримано у Вінницькій, Київській (зона Лісостепу) та Кіровоградській (зона Степу) областях (1,86–2,02 т/га). Низьку врожайність за 10 років відзначено у Рівненській, Житомирській та Волинській областях, які належать до зони Полісся (1,09–1,34 т/га). Показано, що протягом 2011–2015 рр. висока варіабельність урожайності проса спостерігалася в Хмельницькій, Вінницькій та Волинській областях. Коефіцієнт варіації становив 42,0–71,3%. У 2016–2020 рр. найбільшу варіацію відзначено в Донецькій, Волинській та Одеській областях. Коефіцієнт варіації – 31,8–43,9%. Визначено, що за період 2011–2015 рр. високою пластичністю врожайності проса посівного характеризуються Вінницька, Донецька, Київська, Кіровоградська, Сумська, Харківська, Хмельницька, Черкаська та Полтавська області. У проміжок із 2016 до 2020 рр. високу пластичність ознаки врожайності відзначено у Вінницькій, Київській, Харківській, Полтавській, Черкаській, Сумській та Хмельницькій областях. Висновки. За результатами проведених досліджень установлено, що під час скорочення посівних площ під просом посівним у світі, обсяг його виробництва в Україні збільшується. Визначено, що найбільша врожайність просо посівного за досліджувані роки отримана в зоні Лісостепу. Відповідно до розрахованої пластичності врожайності проса посівного визначено, що для реалізації біологічного потенціалу сприятливі умови були в Донецькій та Кіровоградській областях зони Степу, у лісостеповій зоні – Полтавська, Київська, Харківська, Хмельницька, Черкаська та Сумська області.

Purpose. To identify spring durum wheat accessions with high yield level and by yield components for their involvement in breeding programs as a source material. Methods. Field, statistical. Results. The results of the study of 65 collection samples of spring durum wheat of various ecological and geographical origin in terms of productivity in 2016–2018 are presented. The research results indicate that the samples of spring durum wheat had different yield level depending on the conditions of the year of cultivation. According to the calculations of the degree of yield stability parameters, the samples were found that ensure its level under fluctuations in weather conditions with regression coefficient close to one as follows ‘Omskiy izumrud’ (RUS), ‘Korona’, ‘Toma’, ‘Nauryz 6’ (KAZ), ‘Dura king’, ‘Candura’ (CAN), ‘Tera’, ‘Novatsiia’ (UKR), thus indicating their semi-intensive type. Collection samples of spring durum wheat that under optimal weather conditions are capable of producing significant yield increase are distinguished by wide ecological reaction. These are samples with regression coefficient more than one ‘MIP Raiduzhna’, ‘Hordeiforme 13-07’ (UKR), ‘Lan’, ‘Salaut’, ‘Ertol’ (KAZ), ‘Bezenchukskaya 205’, ‘Lilek’ (RUS). These samples can be characterized by their adaptive properties as intense ones, with a pronounced response to the environment. Over the years of the research, grain number per spike varied from 35.9 to 38.8 pcs. Year conditions in 2016 were the most favorable for plant growth and development, while index of conditions was 4.1, and the average grain number per spike was 41.4 pcs. Year conditions in 2017 and 2018 were less favorable for growth and development of durum spring wheat, and therefore there was a negative value of index of year conditions (lj = -5.1 and lj = 0.5, respectively) with less grain number per spike (32.2 and 38.2 pcs., respectively). According to the trait «1000 kernel weight», the samples were identified with regression coefficient close to one under fluctuations of weather conditions, i.e ‘Korona’, ‘Raya’ (KAZ), ‘Lilek’, ‘Bezenchukskaya 205’ (RUS), ‘MIP Raiduzhna’ (UKR). The grain weight per spike in the collection samples varied from 1.27 to 1.77 g. The stable samples ‘Ertol’, ‘Salaut’, ‘Damsinskaya yantarnaya’ (KAZ), ‘Lilek’ (RUS), ‘Novatsiia’ (UKR), ‘Duraking’, ‘Candura’ (CAN) promising in spring wheat breeding were identified and can be involved in hybridization. Conclusions. Stable and plastic samples were identified among collection material of spring durum wheat in terms of productivity for involvement in scientific programs as source material.

The model, Yᵢⱼ = μ₁ + β₁Iⱼ + δᵢⱼ, defines stability parameters that may be used to describe the performance of a variety over a series of environments. Yᵢⱼ is the variety mean of the iᵗʰ variety at the jₜₕ environment, µ₁ is the iᵗʰ variety mean over all environments, β₁ is the regression coefficient that measures the response of the iᵗʰ variety to varying environments, δᵢⱼ is the deviation from regression of the iᵗʰ variety at the jᵗʰ environment, and Iⱼ is the environmental index. The data from two single-cross diallels and a set of 3-way crosses were examined to see whether genetic differences could be detected. Genetic differences among lines were indicated for the regression of the lines on the environmental index with no evidence of nonadditive gene action. The estimates of the squared deviations from regression for many hybrids were near zero, whereas extremely large estimates were obtained for other hybrids.

Мета. Використовуючи статистичні методи, проаналізувати за показниками екологічної пластичності та стабільності лінії конкурсного випробування пшениці м’якої ярої і виявити серед них такі, що вирізняються високою стабільністю врожайності зерна. Методи. Дослідження проводили протягом 2018–2020 рр. на базі Миронівського інституту пшениці імені В. М. Ремесла НААН. У процесі оброблення отриманих результатів послуговувалися загально­прийнятими методами генетико-статистичного аналізу. Результати. Оцінка селекційного матеріалу в різні роки дає змогу отримати інформацію щодо особливостей реакції генотипів на зміну екологічних умов. У результаті проведених досліджень встановлено, що високопластичними є лінії Lutescens 14-32 (bi = 0,59), Erythrospermum 15-32  (bi = 0,44) і Lutescens 14-47 (bi = 0,22). За розрахунками, екологічно стабільними вважають лінії, варіанса стабільності яких дорівнює нулю (S2di = 0,00) або близька до нуля (S2di = 0,01). Purpose. Analysis of the current state and experience on the loop-mediated amplification (LAMP) use to detect genetically modified plants. Methods. Literature search and analysis. Results. General information on the current state and use of the genetically modified plants is provided. Despite the wide distribution of genetically modified plants, the attitude towards them in society continues to remain somewhat wary. About 50 countries have introduced mandatory labeling of GM feed and products, provided that their content exceeds a certain threshold. In order to meet labeling requirements, effective and sensitive methods for detecting known genetic modifications in a variety of plant materials, food products and animal feed must be developed and standardized. The most common approaches to the detection of genetically modified organisms (GMOs) are the determination of specific proteins synthesized in transgenic plants and the detection of new introduced genes. Methods for the determination of GMOs based on the analysis of nucleic acids are more common, since such methods have greater sensitivity and specificity than the analysis of protein composition. Polymerase chain reaction (PCR) method is the main method of nucleic acid analysis, which is now wide used for the detection of GMOs. Loop-mediated amplification (LAMP), which can occur at a constant temperature and therefore does not require the use of expensive equipment may be an alternative to the PCR. Scientific articles about the use of the loop-mediated amplification (LAMP) for the detection of genetically modified plants were analyzed. Advantages and disadvantages of the polymerase chain reaction and loop-mediated amplification are compared. Conclusions. The main criteria for applying a method of GMO detection analysis are as follow: its sensitivity, time of reaction, availability and ease to use, cost of reagents and equipment, and the possibility for simultaneous detection of many samples.

Russula albonigra is considered a well-known species, morphologically delimited by the context of the basidiomata blackening without intermediate reddening, and the menthol-cooling taste of the lamellae. It is supposed to have a broad ecological range and a large distribution area. A thorough molecular analysis based on four nuclear markers (ITS, LSU, RPB2 and TEF1-α) shows this traditional concept of R. albonigra s. lat. represents a species complex consisting of at least five European, three North American, and one Chinese species. Morphological study shows traditional characters used to delimit R. albonigra are not always reliable. Therefore, a new delimitation of the R. albonigra complex is proposed and a key to the described European species of R. subgen. Compactae is presented. A lectotype and an epitype are designated for R. albonigra and three new European species are described: R. ambusta, R. nigrifacta, and R. ustulata. Different thresholds of UNITE species hypotheses were tested against the taxonomic data. The distance threshold of 0.5% gives a perfect match to the phylogenetically defined species within the R. albonigra complex. Publicly available sequence data can contribute to species delimitation and increase our knowledge on ecology and distribution, but the pitfalls are short and low quality sequences.

Установити особливості формування та функціонування симбіотичних систем сої за інокуляції насіння біопрепаратами на основі стійких до фунгіцидів штамів Bradyrhizobium japonicum РС07 та В78 з різними нормами синтетичного барвника кармоїзину. Методи. Фізіологічні, мікробіологічні, газова хроматографія, статистичні. Результати. Установлено, що внаслідок інокуляції сої [Glycine max (L.) Merr] сорту ‘Алмаз’ мікробними препаратами, виготовленими на основі B. japonicum РС07 та В78 з додаванням кармоїзину (0,25 та 0,5 г на 200 г препарату), кількість та маса сформованих на коренях бульбочок упродовж вегетації були на рівні показників контрольних рослин або перевищували їх. За інокуляції насіння обома штамами ризобій та додавання до біопрепаратів різних норм барвника найбільшу різницю за показниками кількості й маси кореневих бульбочок між рослинами контрольних і дослідних варіантів відзначено у фазі повного цвітіння. У результаті аналізу азотфіксувальної активності (АФА) сформованих симбіотичних систем відзначено відсутність негативного впливу синтетичного барвника на її рівень. За бактеризації насіння сої B. japonicum РС07 у фазі трьох справжніх листків АФА була вищою на 15,6–25,9%; у фазі бутонізації–початку цвітіння – на 7,4–29,5% порівняно з контрольними рослинами за додавання 0,25 та 0,5 г кармоїзину відповідно. На фоні бактеризації насіння сої штамом В78 до фази повного цвітіння інтенсивність асиміляції N2 за додавання до біопрепарату 0,25 г кармоїзину була на рівні контрольних рослин. У період повного цвітіння рослин цей показник перевищував контроль на 7,6 та 18,8% за внесення 0,25 та 0,5 г барвника відповідно. Висновки. Кармоїзин можна залучати до подальшого вивчення ефективності його застосування як барвника-ідентифікатора контролю рівномірності нанесення сипучих бактеріальних препаратів на насіння, додаючи 0,25 і 0,5 г на 200 г біопрепарату, оскільки при цьому не виявлено негативного впливу на формування та функціонування симбіотичних систем соя – B. japonicum.

Purpose. Investigate the formation and functioning of symbiotic systems of soybeans with nodule bacteria by ino?culation of seeds with biological products based on fungicide-resistant strains of Bradyrhizobium japonicum PC07 and B78 with different rates of synthetic carmoisine colorant.Methods. Physiological, microbiological, gas chromatography, statistical.Results. It was found that as a result of inoculation of soybean [Glycine max (L.) Merr] variety ?Almaz? with microbial preparations based on B. japonicum PC07 and B78, with the addition of carmoisine (0.25 and 0.5 g per 200 g of the preparation), the amount and the weight of nodules formed on the roots during the growing season were at the level of the control plants or exceeded them. The greatest difference in indicators of quantity and weight of root nodules between plants of control and experimental variants is noted in a phase of full flowering at inoculation by both strains of rhizobia and addition to biological products of various norms of dye. Analysis of nitrogen-fixing activity (NFA) of the formed symbiotic systems showed the absence of a negative effect of the synthetic colorant on its level. When inoculated with soybean seeds B. japonicum PC07 in the phase of three true leaves, NFA was higher by 15.6?25.9% and in the budding-beginning of flowering stage by 7.4?29.5% compared with control plants with the addition of 0.25 and 0.5 g of carmoisine, respectively. Against the background of bacterization of soybean seeds by strain B78 before the phase of full flowering of plants the level of N2 assimilation by adding 0.25?g of carmoisine to the vermiculite preparation was at the level of the control plants. During the period of full flowering, this figure exceeded the indicators of control plants by 7.6 and 18.8% with the introduction of 0.25 and 0.5?g of the colorant.Conclusions. Carmoisine can be applied in the further study of the effectiveness of its use as a dye identifier for controlling the uniformity of marking of loose bacterial preparations on seeds by adding 0.25 and 0.5 g per 200 g of a biopreparation, since this did not show a negative impact on the formation and functioning of the soybean ? Мета. Установити вплив складу субстратних композицій на технічні показники та хімічний склад плодових тіл гливи золотої та опенька тополевого. Методи. Схема експерименту включала вирощування двох видів дерево­руйнівних грибів Pleurotus citrinopileatus Singer (штам 2161 ІВК) та Cyclocybe aegerita (V.Brig.) Vizzini (штам 2230 ІВК) на трьох варіантах субстратних композицій. Застосовано лабораторні, лабораторно-виробничі методи оцінки ефективності технології вирощування, хімічного складу отриманої сировини, статистичні методи аналізу. Результати. Структура та склад субстратів впливають на технологічні характеристики культури, фізичні та хімічні властивості плодових тіл. Найкоротший цикл плодоношення у 35,2 ± 1,7 доби визначено для культури C. aegerita за умов вирощування на субстраті СК1 з формулою «солома / лушпиння / гранули / ріпак / кукурудза / крейда» у співвідношенні 30 : 40 : 70 : 20 : 20 : 1. Найвищу врожайність (170,5 ± 15,2 г на 1 кг субстрату) у досліді визначено для P. citrinopileatus на субстраті СК2 з формулою «солома / гранули / ріпак / кукурудза / крейда» у співвідношенні 40 : 90 : 20 : 25 : 1. Плодові тіла P. citrinopileatus, отримані із субстрату СК3 з формулою «гранули / ріпак / кукурудза / крейда» у співвідношенні 60 : 110 : 20 : 30 : 1, мали найвищий у досліді вміст білків – 22,47 ± 0,19%, а найменшу кількість білків – 17,38 ± 2,60% – мали плодові тіла із субстрату СК1. Плодові тіла C. aegerita містили більше ліпідів порівняно з плодовими тілами P. citrinopileatus, але чинник впливу складу субстрату на загальну кількість ліпідів для деяких культиварів виявився несуттєвим. Найвищу кількість ендо­полісахаридів виділено з плодових тіл C. aegerita (6,81 ± 0,41%), отриманих із субстрату СК3, а найменшу – у варіанті СК1 (1,38 ± 0,25%). Уміст ендополісахаридів у плодових тілах P. citrinopileatus мав меншу варіативність: від 2,54 ± 0,54 (СК3) до 4,72 ± 0,61% (СК1). Висновки. Склад субстратних композицій суттєво впливає на біологічну ефективність культиварів та вміст нутрієнтів у плодових тілах досліджених видів. Отримані результати дають змогу грибівникам спрогнозувати ефективність виробництва та якість отриманих грибів відповідно до використання доступної сировини.

Purpose. To reveal the influence of the substrate compositions on technical indicators and the chemical composition of the fruiting bodies of the golden oyster mushroom and poplar mushroom.Methods. The experimental design included cultivation of two species of wood-decay fungi Pleurotus citrinopileatus Singer (strain 2161 IVK) and Cyclocybe aegerita (V.Brig.) Vizzini (strain 2230 IVK) on three variants of substrate composition. Laboratory, laboratory-production methods for evaluating the effectiveness of growing technology, chemical composition of the obtained raw materials, statistical methods of analysis were applied.Results. The structure and composition of substrates affect the technological characteristics of the culture, physical and chemical properties of fruiting bodies. The shortest fruiting cycle of 35.2 ? 1.7 days was determined for C. aegerita under growing conditions on SC1 substrate which formula included ?straw, husks, pellet, rapeseed, corn, and CaCO3? in the ratio of 30: 40: 70: 20: 20: 1. The highest yield (170.5 ? 15.2 g per 1 kg of substrate) in the experiment was determined for P. citrinopileatus on the SC1 substrate composed of ?straw / pellets? / rapeseed / corn /?CaCO3? in the ratio 40: 90: 20: 25: 1. Fruiting bodies of P. citrinopileatus obtained from the SC3 substrate composed of? ?pellets / rapeseed / corn / CaCO3? in the ratio 60: 110: 20: 30: 1 had the highest protein content ? 22.47 ? 0.19%, and fruiting bodies from the SC1 substrate had the least amount of proteins ? 17.38 ? 2.60%. Fruiting bodies of C.?aegerita contained more lipids than those of P. citrinopileatus, but the factor of the influence of the substrate composition on the total amount of lipids for some cultivars was insignificant. The largest amount of endopolysaccharides was isolated from the fruiting bodies of C. aegerita (6.81 ? 0.41%) cultivated on SC3 substrate, and the smallest in the SC1 variant (1.38 ? 0.25%). The content of endopolysaccharides in the fruiting bodies of P. citrinopileatus had less variability from 2.54 ? 0.54 (SC3) to 4.72 ? 0.61% (SC1).Conclusion. Substrate compositions significantly affect the biological efficiency of cultivars and the content of nutrients in fruiting bodies of the studied species. Purpose. Analysis of species and varietal diversity of the genus Salvia L. cultivated flora of the world, including Ukraine; prognostic assessment and determination of the directions of ornamental representatives of the genus introduction to the conditions of the Forest-steppe of Ukraine. Methods. Analysis and synthesis, comparison and generalization of information data, introduction forecast. Results. The modern assortment of the genus Salvia is presented in quantitative, taxonomic, arealogical and ecological-cenotic terms. Belonging of the species of the genus to 6 main centers of origin of cultivated plants was determined, and a significant diversity of life forms (nanophanerophytes, microphanerophytes, hamephites, hemicryptophytes, theophytes), naturally formed under the influence of factors determined by different geographical and ecological-phytocenotic conditions of plant growth was reflected. Species assortment of the genus Salvia from the collection fund of the M. M. Gryshko National Botanical Garden of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine was analyzed in comparison with the collections of other Ukrainian botanical gardens. The list of decorative species of the collection, found in the natural flora of Ukraine, was given. Three groups of species have been identified by origin, what determines the conditions for plant cultivation in the Forest-Steppe of Ukraine. In terms of taxonomic structure, introduced sage species belong to eight (according to Bentham, 1833) out of twelve sections, which represent biomorphological diversity and confirm the high introduction potential of these plants.  The species and interspecific hybrids most fully used in breeding work and represented by a significant varietal diversity were distinguished, as well as the sage assortment of the collection of ornamental plants of the NBG was presented. Conclusions. It has been revealed that the species and varietal diversity of the genus Salvia of the world cultivated flora has a significant introduction potential for the Forest-Steppe zone of Ukraine. It was determined that the main base for the introduction of the ornamental species of the genus Salvia in Ukraine is the collection of the M. M. Gryshko National Botanical Garden of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine. The main directions of further introduction and breeding work with representatives of the genus Salvia in the Forest-Steppe conditions of Ukraine were highlighted.

Organizing measures in the scope of Ukraine are given, that provide the procedure of the state registration and their rights for fruit, berry, nuciferous species and vine. The expediency of the state registration of fruit and berry crops is grounded as a whole in Ukraine on the basis of the experience of the leading world’s countries. Powers of the State Service on Right Protection for Plant Varieties, Ukrainian Institute of Pant Variety Examination and Applicant were determined in the procedure of the registration of plant varieties and their rights for fruit, berry, nuciferous crops and vine.

Мета. Виявити особливості рівня прояву і варіабельність кількості зерен у колосі ячменю ярого та виділити нові генетичні джерела за поєднанням підвищеного та стабільного рівня прояву ознаки для селекції в умовах центральної частини Лісостепу України. Методи. Дослідження проведено у 2018–2020 рр. в умовах Миронівського інституту пшениці імені В. М. Ремесла НААН. Дослідили 96 колекційних зразків різних підвидів та груп різновидностей ячменю ярого походженням з 15 країн світу. Застосовували низку статистичних параметрів та графічних моделей. Результати. Дисперсійним аналізом AMMI моделі виявлено достовірно високі частки внеску у загальній фенотиповій варіації усіх її складових: умов року (33,8–40,2%), генотипу (35,2–48,9%) і взаємодії генотип–середовище (17,3–29,3%). За показниками гомеостатичності (Homi) і селекційної цінності (Sci) та візуалізаціями GGE biplot диференційовано зразки відповідно до рівня прояву і варіабельності ознаки та виокремлено нові генетичні джерела для селекції. Коефіцієнт фенотипової варіації варіював від низького у дворядних плівчастих зразків (PCV = 9,60%) до наближеного до високого у голозерних (PCV = 18,9%). Високе значення коефіцієнту генотипової варіації виявлено у голозерних (GCV = 10,95%) та шестирядних зразків (GCV = 13,28%). Коефіцієнт успадковуваності ознаки мав значення від високого (H2 = 79,4%) у дворядних зразків до наближеного до низького (H2 = 33,7%) у шестирядних. Очікуване генетичне поліпшення становило від середнього у багаторядних зразків (GAM = 13,10%) до високого у голозерних (GAM = 23,51%). Висновки. Виділено колекційні зразки які поєднують підвищену озерненість та її відносну стабільність: дворядні плівчасті – ‘Тівер’ (UKR), ‘Almonte’ (CAN), ‘Despina’ (DEU), ‘Cымбат’ (KAZ), ‘Смарагд’ (UKR), ‘Новатор’ (UKR); дворядні голозерні – ‘CDC Candle’ (CAN) і ‘Millhouse’ (CAN), багаторядні плівчасті – ‘AC Westech’ (CAN) і ‘AC Alma’ (CAN). Перспективою подальших досліджень є залучення виділених зразків для створення нового вихідного матеріалу та встановлення особливостей успадкування кількості зерен у колосі, а також виявлення взаємозв’язків цієї ознаки з іншими структурними елементами врожайності.

KEY MESSAGE: Evaluation of breeding progress for spring barley varieties in Germany showed that both grain yield and malting quality were considerably improved during the last 33 years, and that genetic effects of protein concentration and malting traits were not associated. Based on historical data, this study aimed to investigate yield potential and malting quality of 187 varieties tested and released in German registration trials to evaluate the value for cultivation and use (VCU) during 1983–2015, and to quantify the environmental variability and the association among traits. We used mixed linear models with multiple linear regression terms to dissect genetic and non-genetic trend components. Grain yield increased by 43% (23.4 dt ha⁻¹) in VCU trials and 35% (14.0 dt ha⁻¹) on-farm relative to 1983. All yield components contributed significantly. Malting quality was also considerably improved by 2.3% for extract content up to 25.1% for friability, relative to 1983, nearly completely due to new varieties. Total variability of individual traits was very different between traits (2.4–24.4% relative to 1983). The relative influence of genotypes on total variation was low for grain yield and its components, whereas it was considerably larger for other traits. We found remarkable differences between phenotypic and genetic correlation coefficients for grain yield and protein concentration with malting traits. The observed positive phenotypic relation between grain yield and malting quality can be attributed to a shift of selection and environmental effects, but genetic correlations showed a negative association. Genetic effects of protein concentration and malting quality were not correlated indicating that both were not genetically linked. Considerable yield progress and improvement of malting quality were achieved despite of their weak to moderate negative genetic dependence.

The international collections of plant genetic resources for food and agriculture (PGRFA) hosted by 11 CGIAR Centers are important components of the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization’s global system of conservation and use of PGRFA. They also play an important supportive role in realizing Target 2.5 of the Sustainable Development Goals. This paper analyzes CGIAR genebanks’ trends in acquiring and distributing PGRFA over the last 35 years, with a particular focus on the last decade. The paper highlights a number of factors influencing the Centers’ acquisition of new PGRFA to include in the international collections, including increased capacity to analyze gaps in those collections and precisely target new collecting missions, availability of financial resources, and the state of international and national access and benefit-sharing laws and phytosanitary regulations. Factors contributing to Centers’ distributions of PGRFA included the extent of accession-level information, users’ capacity to identify the materials they want, and policies. The genebanks’ rates of both acquisition and distribution increased over the last decade. The paper ends on a cautionary note concerning the potential of unresolved tensions regarding access and benefit sharing and digital genomic sequence information to undermine international cooperation to conserve and use PGRFA.

Purpose. To determine the peculiarities of the manifestation of combining ability and the mode of inheritance of yield-related traits in winter barley and to identify genetic sources and promising hybrid combinations for further breeding efforts under conditions of Ukrainian Forest-steppe. Methods. The research was conducted in 2018/19 and 2021/22 at the V. M. Remeslo Myronivka Institute of Wheat of NAAS of Ukraine. In accordance with generally accepted methods, the degree of phenotypic dominance, heterobeltiosis and effects of general combining ability in the top-cross hybrids of winter barley for key yield components were determined. Results. The variability of the manifestation level of the studied traits in parental components and hybrids in different years were established. According to the indicator of the degree of phenotypic dominance, the variability of the character of inheritance was revealed depending on the traits, hybrid combinations and growing conditions. Hybrid combinations with positive overdominance and dominance of individual yield components were highlighted. In particular, according to plant productivity these combination are: ‘Scarpia’ / ‘MIP Darii’, ‘Scarpia’ / ‘MIP Korsar’, ‘Aborygen’ / ‘MIP Corsar’, ‘Titus’ / ‘MIP Status’, ‘MIP Yanus’ / ‘MIP Status’, ‘Titus’ / ‘Paladin Myronivskyi’, ‘Maybrit’ / ‘Paladin Myronivskyi’ ‘MIP Yanus’ / ‘Paladin Myronivskyi’. The varieties with increased effects of general combining ability for yield-related traits under different growing conditions were distinguished. As follows: productive tillering – ‘Scarpia’, ‘MIP Darii’; grain number per ear – ‘MIP Yanus’, ‘MIP Hladiator’, ‘MIP Status’; 1000 grain weight – ‘Titus’, ‘MIP Korsar’, ‘MIP Status’; grain weight per plant – ‘MIP Yanus’, ‘MIP Status’, ‘MIP Darii’. Conclusions. Selected hybrid combinations with positive overdominance and dominance are of practical value for further breeding to increase individual components and plant productivity in general. The varieties with increased effects of general combining ability are valuable genetic sources for involvement in crossing for improving the certain traits. | Мета. Визначити особливості прояву комбінаційної здатності та характеру успадкування пов’язаних з урожайністю ознак ячменю озимого й виділити генетичні джерела та перспективні гібридні комбінації для подальшої селекційної роботи в умовах Лісостепу України.Методи. Дослідження проводили у 2018/19 і 2021/22 рр. у Миронівському інституті пшениці імені В. М. Ремесла НААН. Відповідно до загальноприйнятих методик у топкросних гібридів ячменю озимого визначали ступінь фенотипового домінування, істинний гетерозис та ефекти загальної комбінаційної здатності за основними елементами структури врожайності.Результати. Установлено варіабельність рівня прояву досліджених ознак батьківських компонентів і гібридів у різні роки. За показником ступеня фенотипового домінування виявлено мінливість характеру успадкування залежно від ознак, гібридних комбінацій та умов вирощування. Виділено гібридні комбінації з позитивним наддомінуванням і домінуванням за окремими елементами структури врожайності, зокрема продуктивністю рослини: ‘Scarpia’ / ‘МІП Дарій’, ‘Scarpia’ / ‘МІП Корсар’, ‘Абориген’ / ‘МІП Корсар’, ‘Titus’ / ‘МІП Статус’, ‘МІП Янус’ / ‘МІП Статус’, ‘Titus’ / ‘Паладін Миронівський’, ‘Maybrit’ / ‘Паладін Миронівський’, ‘МІП Янус’ / ‘Паладін Миронівський’. Виокремлено сорти з підвищеними ефектами загальної комбінаційної здатності, пов’язаних з урожайністю ознак за різних умов вирощування: продуктивна кущистість – ‘Scarpia’, ‘МІП Дарій’; кількість зерен у колосі – ‘МІП Янус’, ‘МІП Гладіатор’, ‘МІП Статус’; маса 1000 зерен – ‘Titus’, ‘МІП Корсар’, ‘МІП Статус’; маса зерен із рослини – ‘МІП Янус’, ‘МІП Статус’, ‘МІП Дарій’.Висновки. Виділені гібридні комбінації з позитивним наддомінуванням та домінуванням становлять практичну цінність для подальшої селекції на збільшення продуктивності рослини загалом і окремих елементів її структури. Сорти з підвищеними ефектами загальної комбінаційної здатності є цінними генетичними джерелами для залучення у схрещування з метою поліпшення відповідних ознак.

Мета. Виявити селекційно-генетичні особливості ячменю ярого за масою 1000 зерен та виділити генетичні джерела для селекції в умовах центральної частини Лісостепу України. Методи. Дослідження проводили в Миронівському інституті пшениці імені В. М. Ремесла НААН. Досліджували F1 двох повних (6 ´ 6) діалельних схем схрещувань. Перша схема включала сучасні як вітчизняні, так закордонні сорти ячменю ярого пивоварного напряму (‘МІП Титул’, ‘Авгур’, ‘Datcha’, ‘Quench’, ‘Gladys’, ‘Beatrix’), друга – класичні плівчасті остисті (‘МІП Мирослав’, ‘Sebastian’), безості (‘Козир’, ‘Вітраж’) та голозерні (‘Condor’, ‘CDC Rattan’) сорти. Результати. Виявлено різні типи успадкування маси 1000 зерен, за винятком негативного домінування. Частка комбінацій з відповідними значеннями ступеня фенотипового домінування змінювалась залежно від залучених до схрещувань генотипів та років випробувань. В обох схемах схрещування як у 2019-му, так і у 2020 р. в більшості комбінацій виявлено позитивне наддомінування. Найбільшу кількість комбінацій із проявом гетерозису за різних умов вирощування відзначено в разі залучення до схрещувань сортів ‘Gladys’ і ‘МІП Мирослав’. За параметрами генетичної варіації виявлено, що ознака визначалась переважно адитивно-домінантною системою. Домінування було спрямованим на збільшення маси 1000 зерен. Лише у другій схемі схрещувань у 2019 р. значення показника спрямованості домінування було недостовірним. У локусах виявлено неповне домінування у 2019-му та наддомінування у 2020 р. Достовірно високі ефекти загальної комбінаційної здатності в обидва роки відзначено для сортів ‘Datcha’, ‘Gladys’, ‘МІП Мирослав’, ‘Козир’ і ‘Вітраж’. Висновки. Виявлені селекційно-генетичні особливості вказують, що в переважної більшості створених гібридних комбінацій необхідним буде остаточний добір за масою 1000 зерен у пізніших поколіннях, коли домінантні алелі перейдуть у гомозиготний стан. Як ефективні генетичні джерела для підвищення маси 1000 зерен можуть бути використані остисті сорти ‘Gladys’, ‘МІП Мирослав’ і ‘Datcha’, а також безості – ‘Козир’ і ‘Вітраж’.

Genebanks hold comprehensive collections of cultivars, landraces and crop wild relatives of all major food crops, but their detailed characterization has so far been limited to sparse core sets. The analysis of genome-wide genotyping-by-sequencing data for almost all barley accessions of the German ex situ genebank provides insights into the global population structure of domesticated barley and points out redundancies and coverage gaps in one of the world’s major genebanks. Our large sample size and dense marker data afford great power for genome-wide association scans. We detect known and novel loci underlying morphological traits differentiating barley genepools, find evidence for convergent selection for barbless awns in barley and rice and show that a major-effect resistance locus conferring resistance to bymovirus infection has been favored by traditional farmers. This study outlines future directions for genomics-assisted genebank management and the utilization of germplasm collections for linking natural variation to human selection during crop evolution.

Purpose. To reveal the peculiarities of inheritance of kernel number per spike in crosses of spring barley cultivars of different origin, purpose of use and botanical varieties, as well as to distinguish effective genetic sources for impro­ving the trait.Methods. The study was carried out at the M. Remeslo Myronivka Institute of Wheat of National Academy of Agrarian Sciences of Ukraine in 2019 and 2020. In F1 of spring barley in two diallel crossing schemes the degree of phenotypic dominance, parameters of genetic variation, and combining ability for kernel number per spike were determined. Results. According to the indicator of the degree of phenotypic dominance, all possible types of inheritance of kernel number per spike were identified. In a number of crossing compositions, a change in the type of inheritance depending on the conditions of the year was revealed. Most combinations with overdominance in both years were noted in crossings of the covered awned cultivar ‘Avgur’, as well as the covered awnless cultivar ‘Kozyr’. According to the parameters of genetic variation in crosses of malting varieties (covered awned), correspondence of the additive-dominant model, overdominance and dominance in loci, as well as unidirectional dominance to increasing of the trait caused by dominant effects were revealed. When crossing cultivars of different varieties, a change in gene action in different years was found. In particular, additive-dominant system changed to complementary epistasis, incomplete dominance to overdominance, unidirectional dominance to increa­sing of the trait to multidirectional dominance. The genetic sources of increased general combining ability were identified, as follows: covered awned malting cultivars ‘Quench’ and ‘Avgur’, the naked awned cultivar ‘CDC Rattan’, as well as the covered awnless cultivar ‘Kozyr’. Based on the constants of specific combining ability, the most promising crossing combinations for further breeding efforts were determined.Conclusions. The identified peculiarities of the inheritance of kernel number per spike make it possible to optimally combine parental components of crossings and carry out directional selection to increase the trait when developing spring barley cultivars for different use and different botanical varieties. | Мета. Виявити особливості успадкування кількості зерен у колосі, схрещуючи різні за походженням, напрямами використання і різновидностями сорти ячменю ярого, та виокремити ефективні генетичні джерела для поліпшення цієї ознаки.Методи. Дослідження проводили в Миронівському інституті пшениці імені В. М. Ремесла НААН у 2019 і 2020 рр. В F1 ячменю ярого двох діалельних схем схрещування за кількістю зерен у колосі визначили ступінь фенотипового домінування, параметри генетичної варіації та комбінаційну здатність.Результати. За показником ступеня фенотипового домінування виявлено всі можливі типи успадкування кількості зерен у колосі. У низки комбінацій схрещування встановлено зміну типу успадкування залежно від умов року. Найбільшу кількість комбінацій із наддомінуванням в обох роках відмічено у комбінаціях з плівчастим остистим сортом ‘Авгур’ та безостим сортом ‘Козир’. За параметрами генетичної варіації у схрещуваннях пивоварних сортів (плівчастих остистих) виявлено відповідність адитивно-домінантній моделі, наддомінування і домінування у локусах, а також односпрямованість домінування на збільшення ознаки, зумовлене домінантними ефектами. У схрещуваннях сортів різних ботанічних різновидностей виявлено зміну дії генів у різні роки. А саме: адитивно-домінантної системи – комплементарним епістазом, неповного домінування – наддомінуванням, односпрямованості домінування на збільшення ознаки – різноспрямованістю. Виділено генетичні джерела підвищеної загальної комбінаційної здатності, зокрема плівчасті остисті сорти пивоварного напряму ‘Quench’ і ‘Авгур’, голозерний та безостий сорти ‘CDC Rattan’ і ‘Козир’ відповідно. На основі констант специфічної комбінаційної здатності визначено найбільш перспективні комбінації для подальшої селекційної роботи.Висновки. Виявлені особливості успадкування кількості зерен у колосі дають змогу оптимально комбінувати батьківські компоненти схрещувань і здійснювати цілеспрямований добір на збільшення ознаки у процесі створення ботанічних різновидностей сортів ячменю ярого різних напрямів використання.

An experimental trial was carried out during two successive crop years, (2015/2016 and 2016/2017). The study focused on an F1 generation of barley (Hordeum vulgare L.), composed of twenty hybrids, from a complete diallel cross between autochthones and introduced cultivars.The aim is to bring together in one combination the maximum of favorable genes existing in local and introduced genotypes. The evaluation of the genetic determinism of parental lines and their descendants, through the measurement of six quantitative variables, is ensured thanks to a detailed genetic analysis according to the model of Griffing (1956) and confirmed by the graphic model of Hayman (1954).The results obtained reveal the existence of a great genetic variability between the hybrids and between their parents; additive and non-additive genetic effects are involved in the control of the variables evaluated. The variance ratio of general combining ability (GCA) and the specific combining ability (SCA) is less than one unit which explains the preponderance of the dominant genes, with a super dominance involved in the expression of the length of the spike, the number of grains per spike and the productivity per plant; on the other hand, complete and partial dominance respectively control the expression of the height of the plants and the weight of one thousand grains.

The paper summarizes the experimental data from field and laboratory experiments on the study of the collection material of hull-less barley from ICARDA (Hordeum vulgare L.) on saline soils of the Kyzylorda region. The influence of the type of ripening of the variety and weather conditions of vegetation on the formation and variability of the grain yield of spring hull-less barley is shown. Traits less affected by external factors, such as plant height, spike length, number of spikelets per spike, and number of productive spikes per 1 m2, are determined. It has been established that during the selection, stabilization on such traits occurs in early generations, which increases the efficiency of selection of adaptive varieties. At the present stage, using in hybridization the best hull-less forms ICNBF8-611/Aths, DeirAlla106/Strain205//Rhn-03/3/BF891M-582, Atahualpa/4/Avt/Attiki//Aths/3/Giza121/Pue, Atahualpa/4/Harrington/3/WI2291/Roho//WI2269, and HIGO/LINO with local recognized varieties, 20 hybrid populations have been obtained, and 150 lines selected from them, identified that donors of valuable traits are of particular interest for creating productive cereal varieties.

Eighteen hybrids generated from crossing six lines with three testers were studied along with their parents for combining ability and gene action involved in the expression of characters in barley to identify suitable parents and desirable hybrid combinations. Observations were recorded for days to ear emergence, days to maturity, the number of productive tillers per plant, ear length (cm.), grains per spike, biological yield per plant (g.), harvest index (%), 1000-grain weight and grain yield per plant (g.). The mean squares for General Combining Ability (GCA) and Specific Combining Ability (SCA) effects were found highly significant for all the traits studied. Among the parents, tester NDB-1173 and lines RD-2909, RD-2899 and RD-2768 were good general combiners for grain yield and its component traits. On the basis of SCA effects, RD-2909 x NDB-943, NDB-1618 x NDB-1173, RD-2768 x NDB-3, HUB-240 x NDB-1173 and RD-2899 x NDB-943 for grain yield were observed as most promising crosses.

Мета. Визначити особливості прояву комбінаційної здатності та характеру успадкування пов’язаних з урожайністю ознак ячменю озимого й виділити генетичні джерела та перспективні гібридні комбінації для подальшої селекційної роботи в умовах Лісостепу України. Методи. Дослідження проводили у 2018/19 і 2021/22 рр. у Миронівському інституті пшениці імені В. М. Ремесла НААН. Відповідно до загальноприйнятих методик у топкросних гібридів ячменю озимого визначали ступінь фенотипового домінування, істинний гетерозис та ефекти загальної комбінаційної здатності за основними елементами структури врожайності. Результати. Установлено варіабельність рівня прояву досліджених ознак батьківських компонентів і гібридів у різні роки. За показником ступеня фенотипового домінування виявлено мінливість характеру успадкування залежно від ознак, гібридних комбінацій та умов вирощування. Виділено гібридні комбінації з позитивним наддомінуванням і домінуванням за окремими елементами структури врожайності, зокрема продуктивністю рослини: ‘Scarpia’ / ‘МІП Дарій’, ‘Scarpia’ / ‘МІП Корсар’, ‘Абориген’ / ‘МІП Корсар’, ‘Titus’ / ‘МІП Статус’, ‘МІП Янус’ / ‘МІП Статус’, ‘Titus’ / ‘Паладін Миронівський’, ‘Maybrit’ / ‘Паладін Миронівський’, ‘МІП Янус’ / ‘Паладін Миронівський’. Виокремлено сорти з підвищеними ефектами загальної комбінаційної здатності, пов’язаних з урожайністю ознак за різних умов вирощування: продуктивна кущистість – ‘Scarpia’, ‘МІП Дарій’; кількість зерен у колосі – ‘МІП Янус’, ‘МІП Гладіатор’, ‘МІП Статус’; маса 1000 зерен – ‘Titus’, ‘МІП Корсар’, ‘МІП Статус’; маса зерен із рослини – ‘МІП Янус’, ‘МІП Статус’, ‘МІП Дарій’. Висновки. Виділені гібридні комбінації з позитивним наддомінуванням та домінуванням становлять практичну цінність для подальшої селекції на збільшення продуктивності рослини загалом і окремих елементів її структури. Сорти з підвищеними ефектами загальної комбінаційної здатності є цінними генетичними джерелами для залучення у схрещування з метою поліпшення відповідних ознак.

A comparative survey was used to collect data from 410 farmers and 114 advisors in Germany. The majority of both farmers and advisors reported perceivable effects of climatic change on plant production. The increase in droughts and hot spells, the increased incidence of torrential rain, and mild winters were mentioned as the main effects of climate change. The international collections of plant genetic resources for food and agriculture (PGRFA) hosted by 11 CGIAR Centers are important components of the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization’s global system of conservation and use of PGRFA. They also play an important supportive role in realizing Target 2.5 of the Sustainable Development Goals. This paper analyzes CGIAR genebanks’ trends in acquiring and distributing PGRFA over the last 35 years, with a particular focus on the last decade. The paper highlights a number of factors influencing the Centers’ acquisition of new PGRFA to include in the international collections, including increased capacity to analyze gaps in those collections and precisely target new collecting missions, availability of financial resources, and the state of international and national access and benefit-sharing laws and phytosanitary regulations. Factors contributing to Centers’ distributions of PGRFA included the extent of accession-level information, users’ capacity to identify the materials they want, and policies. The genebanks’ rates of both acquisition and distribution increased over the last decade. The paper ends on a cautionary note concerning the potential of unresolved tensions regarding access and benefit sharing and digital genomic sequence information to undermine international cooperation to conserve and use PGRFA.

The purpose of this study was to test the STS-marker for the Nud1 gene controlling the hulled phenotype, and use it for the production of naked barley hybrids. Materials and methods. Genotyping of 112 F2 hybrids obtained by crossing the naked black variety ‘Jet’ and the hulled white variety ‘Elf’ was carried out using wF2 and kR1, or tR2 primers in the regular PCR mode to amplify the recessive or dominant alleles of the Nud1 gene, respectively, and also in the multiplex PCR mode, which allows simultaneous amplification of both dominant and recessive alleles of the Nud1 gene. The genotyping data were compared with those on phenotypes of hybrids. Results and discussion. The possibility of using multiplex PCR with a set of primers wF2, kR1, and tR2 for identifying dominant and recessive alleles of the Nud1 gene in hybrid material has been demonstrated. However, while the observed number of hybrids homozygous for the recessive allele nud1 almost completely corresponded to their expected number, the clear predominance of homozygotes for the dominant allele Nud1 and the lack of heterozygotes compared to the expected number of hybrids of these groups indicates erroneous identification of some heterozygotes as dominant homozygotes, which must be taken into account during selection of hulled barleys by genotyping. Conclusions. The STS-marker amplified by primers wF2, kR1, and tR2, can be used to select recessive homozygotes nud1nud1 from hybrid populations, however, additional analysis is required for a more reliable identification of heterozygotes and homozygotes for the dominant allele of the Nud1 gene.

Целью представленной работы является апробация STS-маркера к гену Nud1, контролирующему пленчатость, для отбора голозерных гибридов ячменя. Материалы и методы. Генотипирование 112 гибридов популяции F2, полученной с помощью скрещивания голозерного черноколосого сорта ‘Jet’ и пленчатого белоколосого сорта ‘Эльф’, проводили с помощью праймеров wF2 и kR1, либо tR2, в режиме обычной ПЦР, которая позволила амплифицировать фрагменты рецессивного, либо доминантного аллелей гена Nud1, соответственно, а также в режиме мультиплексной ПЦР, позволяющей одновременно амплифицировать фрагменты и доминантного, и рецессивного аллелей гена Nud1. Данные генотипирования сопоставляли с фенотипами гибридов. Результаты и обсуждение. Показана возможность использования мультиплексной ПЦР с набором праймеров wF2, kR1, tR2 для выявления доминантных и рецессивных аллелей гена Nud1 в гибридном материале. Однако, если наблюдаемая частота гибридов гомозиготных по рецессивному аллелю nud1 почти полностью соответствовала их ожидаемой частоте при моногенном типе наследования, то явное преобладание гомозигот по доминантному аллелю Nud1 и недостаток гетерозигот по сравнению с ожидаемыми частотами гибридов этих групп указывает на ошибочную идентификацию части гетерозигот как доминантных гомозигот, что нужно учитывать при отборе пленчатых форм с помощью генотипирования. Заключение. STS-маркер, амплифицируемый с помощью праймеров wF2, kR1, tR2, возможно использовать для отбора рецесcивных гомозигот nud1nud1 из гибридных популяций, однако для более надежной идентификации гетерозигот и гомозигот по доминантному аллелю гена Nud1 необходим дополнительный анализ.

A total of 310 Barley accessions collected from ICARDA, Lebanon and grown in Indian condition at ICARDA-IRP (India Research Platform), Amlaha, (M.P.) were analyzed for morphological and genetic variability using nine agro-morphological traits i.e. Plant height (cm), number oftillers per plant, daysto heading, number of ear headsper pant, length ofear (cm), number of spikelets per earhead, number of grains per earhead, yield per plant (g), and 1000-grain weight (g). The highest coefficient of variation as a result of highest diversity among the genotypes were found for grains per earhead (37.5%), spikelets per earhead (37.5%), yield per plant (35.3%), tillers per plant (31.3%) and earhead per plant (31.2%). However, ear length (16.9%), days to heading (15.4%), 1000-grain weight (13.5%) and plant height (11.2%) have conributued less to diversity with lower cofficient of variation. In cluster analysis, all the characters were used to construct a distance matrix using the Euclidian coefficient, and used to generate dendrogram showing similarity among all the genotypes, distance coefficient ranged between 0 and 200 which reveal the genetic diversity among genotypes. These exotic accessions evaluated can be further used for primary or secondary introduction in Indian breeding program.

Мета. Виявити особливості успадкування кількості зерен у колосі, схрещуючи різні за походженням, напрямами використання і різновидностями сорти ячменю ярого, та виокремити ефективні генетичні джерела для поліпшення цієї ознаки. Методи. Дослідження проводили в Миронівському інституті пшениці імені В. М. Ремесла НААН у 2019 і 2020 рр. В F1 ячменю ярого двох діалельних схем схрещування за кількістю зерен у колосі визначили ступінь фенотипового домінування, параметри генетичної варіації та комбінаційну здатність. Результати. За показником ступеня фенотипового домінування виявлено всі можливі типи успадкування кількості зерен у колосі. У низки комбінацій схрещування встановлено зміну типу успадкування залежно від умов року. Найбільшу кількість комбінацій із наддомінуванням в обох роках відмічено у комбінаціях з плівчастим остистим сортом ‘Авгур’ та безостим сортом ‘Козир’. За параметрами генетичної варіації у схрещуваннях пивоварних сортів (плівчастих остистих) виявлено відповідність адитивно-домінантній моделі, наддомінування і домінування у локусах, а також односпрямованість домінування на збільшення ознаки, зумовлене домінантними ефектами. У схрещуваннях сортів різних ботанічних різновидностей виявлено зміну дії генів у різні роки. А саме: адитивно-домінантної системи – комплементарним епістазом, неповного домінування – наддомінуванням, односпрямованості домінування на збільшення ознаки – різноспрямованістю. Виділено генетичні джерела підвищеної загальної комбінаційної здатності, зокрема плівчасті остисті сорти пивоварного напряму ‘Quench’ і ‘Авгур’, голозерний та безостий сорти ‘CDC Rattan’ і ‘Козир’ відповідно. На основі констант специфічної комбінаційної здатності визначено найбільш перспективні комбінації для подальшої селекційної роботи. Висновки. Виявлені особливості успадкування кількості зерен у колосі дають змогу оптимально комбінувати батьківські компоненти схрещувань і здійснювати цілеспрямований добір на збільшення ознаки у процесі створення ботанічних різновидностей сортів ячменю ярого різних напрямів використання.

To create an industrial hemp variety of the Central European ecological and geographical type with a high cannabigerol content and universal application. Methods. Breeding (self-pollination, creation of artificial populations, selection), field, biochemical (thin-layer and gas-liquid chromatography of cannabinoid compounds), instrumental and technological assessment of fibre quality, and statistical methods. Results. Variety ‘Vik 2020’ was obtained as a result of creation of artificial populations. The plants are characterized by higher content of cannabigerol (1.034 ± 0.0323%), and almost zero of other secondary metabolites, such as cannabidivarin, cannabidiol, cannabichromene and psychotropic tetrahydrocannabinol (0.003 ± 0.0011; 0.018 ± 0.0080; 0.012 ± 0.0027, and 0.005 ± 0.0012%, respectively). The t rait of cannabigerol content is quite stable within the population and is not correlated with the trait of tetrahydrocannabinol content (r = -0.23). TLC showed that cannabigerol accumulated mainly in the form of cannabigerolic acid and to a lesser extent as a neutral compound, which is consistent with the theory that this substance is a precursor for the synthesis of other cannabinoids. According to the results of the competitive variety test, when growing to obtain fibre and seeds, the variety features short height, specifically significantly lower total (206.4 cm) and technical stem length (135.6 cm) compared to the standard variety, significantly higher inflorescence length (70.8 cm), which determine the formation of the significant yield of biomass suitable for pharmaceutical use and high seed yield (0.98 t/ha). The yield of total fibre was the same as in the standard variety (29.0%), but its quality and technological value for primary processing were higher. The variety had a homogeneous sex structure, resistance to bioltic and abiotic environmental factors. Plants reached biological maturity in 116 days (BBCH 89). This cultivar is recommended for obtaining seeds, quality fiber and potentially cannabigerol (on condition of changes in legislation). Conclusions. The efficiency of using self-pollinating lines in breeding with their subsequent combining into a synthetic population and improving selection was proved by the case of a new variety of industrial hemp ‘Vik 2020’, characterized by an increased content of cannabigerol and the absence of psychotropic properties

Мета. З’ясувати посухостійкість рослин сортів англійських троянд. Методи. Польовий, анатомічний, біометричний. Посухостійкість рослин у польових умовах оцінювали за 6-баловою шкалою С. С. П’ятницького (1961). Kількість продихів на одиницю площі листкової пластинки визначали за допомогою сканувального електронного мікроскопа JSM-6700F (JEOL, Токіо, Японія). Результати. Посухостійкість рослин сортів англійських троянд досліджували як у польових, так і лабораторних умовах. За візуальними спостереженнями в періоди з низьким рівнем вологозабезпечення тургор листків не знижувався, тож польову посухостійкість усіх сортів оцінено у 5 балів. За параметрами щільності продихів на одиницю площі листка виділено сорти, які мають максимальні та мінімальні значення цього показника. Висновки. Усі досліджені сорти англійських троянд із колекції Державного дендрологічного парку «Олександрія» НАН України є достатньо посухостійкими в польових умовах. Однак, вони суттєво різняться за показниками щільності продихів на одиницю площі листка рослин. Найбільшу середню кількість продихів на 0,5 мм2 (163,67±7,93 шт.) зафіксовано в рослин сорту ‘Alan Titchmarsh’, найменшу (47,67±1,94 шт.) – у ‘Charles Austin’. Порівняння даних щодо морфології листків англійських троянд та щільності продихів показало, що сортам з меншими розмірами листків (‘Cottage Rose’, ‘Fisherman Friend’, ‘Noble Antony’, ‘Crocus Rose’) притаманна більша кількість продихів на одиницю площі, що вказує на їхню вищу посухостійкість. Отримані дані польових і лабораторних досліджень будуть ураховані під час формування рекомендацій щодо використання троянд для озеленення міських територій, де рослини можуть опинитися в екстремальніших, аніж у дендропарку, умовах.

Cryptococcosis is an opportunistic systemic mycosis caused by Cryptococcus neoformans and C. gattii species complexes and is of increasing global importance. Maintaining continued surveillance of the antifungal susceptibility of environmental C. neoformans and C. gattii isolates is desirable for better managing cryptococcosis by identifying resistant isolates and revealing the emergence of intrinsically resistant species. Relevant research data from Egypt are scarce. Thus, this study aimed to report the genetic diversity of C. neoformans and C. gattii species complexes originating from different environmental sources in Egypt, antifungal susceptibility profiles, antifungal combinations, and correlations of susceptibility with genotypes. A total of 400 environmental samples were collected, 220 from birds and 180 from trees. Cryptococcus spp. were found in 58 (14.5%) of the samples, 44 (75.9%) of the isolates were recovered from birds and 14 (24.1%) from trees. These isolates were genotyped using M13 polymerase chain reaction-fingerprinting and URA5 gene restriction fragment length polymorphism analysis. Of the 31 C. neoformans isolates, 24 (77.4%), 6 (19.4%) and one (4.4%) belonged to VNI, VNII, and VNIII genotypes, respectively. The 27 C. gattii isolates belonged to VGI (70.4%), VGII (18.5%), and VGIII (11.1%) genotypes. Non-wild type C. neoformans and C. gattii isolates that may have acquired resistance to azoles, amphotericin B (AMB), and terbinafine (TRB) were observed. C. gattii VGIII was less susceptible to fluconazole (FCZ) and itraconazole (ITZ) than VGI and VGII. C. neoformans isolates showed higher minimum inhibitory concentrations (MICs) to FCZ, ITZ, and voriconazole (VRZ) than those of C. gattii VGI and VGII. Significant (P < 0.001) correlations were found between the MICs of VRZ and ITZ (r = 0.64) in both C. neoformans and C. gattii isolates, FCZ and TRB in C. neoformans isolates, and FCZ and TRB (r = 0.52) in C. gattii isolates.

Purpose. Development of scientific and applied foundations for the introduction, selection and use of plants of the species of the genus Physalis L. to ensure food security in Ukraine. Methods. Subject of study – plants of the genus Physalis. The study was conducted in 2014–2018. on the introduction plots of the department of cultural flora of the M. M. Hryshko National Botanical Garden, NAS of Ukraine (NBG). The work used general scientific and special methods: field, introduction, biological and morphological; laboratory (chemical, biochemical), statistical (methods of analysis of variance and statistical estimation of average data using Microsoft Excel (2010). Results. The features of ontomorphogenesis were established, the biological and morphological parameters of plants of the species of the genus Physalis L. were investigated under conditions of introduction in the Right-Bank Forest-Steppe Ukraine. It was found that the content of dry matter in plant fruits varied from 10 to 18.34%, sugars – from 39.34 to 67.97%, tannins – 1.57 to 3.35% and carotene – from 0.200 to 0.583%, ascorbic acid – from 123.91 to 284.95 mg/100 g, depending on the species, varietal and shape characteristics. Conclusions. It was found that the introduced plant species of the genus Physalis in conditions of culture have four age periods and 10 developmental states: seeds (se), sprouts (p), juvenile (j), immature (im), virginal (v), generative (g), subsenilny (ss) and senile (se). Ph. ixocarpa ‘Likhtaryk’ of the NBG selection was distinguished among the studied introduced species in terms of biological and morphological parameters and biochemical composition. The obtained data can be used for further research and determining the prospects for the introduction of these introduced species into a wide culture

To establish the optimal seeding time and depth of ‘Dniprovskyi 39’ and ‘Vinets’ sorghum varieties, to prove their effect on the crop photosynthetic capacity in the Right-Bank Forest-Steppe of Ukraine. Methods. Field, laboratory, comparative, analytical, generalizing, mathematical and statistical. Results. It was proved that the best results of crop photosynthetic capacity of sorghum were obtained by sowing in the first decade of May (the second sowing period) at a seeding depth of 4–6 cm. Accordingly, the leaf surface area in these variants reached its maximum during the “panicle-blooming” period and equated 36.13–38.81 thousand m2/ha for the ‘Dniprovskyi 39’ variety and 34.23–36.91 thousand m2/ha for the ‘Vinets’ variety. By sowing seeds in the third decade of April (the first sowing period) at the seedining depth values described above the leaf surface area of the varieties was slightly smaller and amounted to 29.56–31.20 thousand m2/ha for the ‘Dniprovskyi 39’ variety and 27.76–29.40 thousand m2/ha for the ‘Vinets’ variety. By sowing seeds in the second decade of May (the third sowing period), the leaf surface area was 30.68–32.92 thousand m2/ha for the ‘Dniprovskyi 39’ variety and 29.08–31.32 thousand m2/ha for the ‘Vinets’ variety. The highest photosynthetic potential was obtained for sorghum plants in the second sowing period at the seeding depth of 4–6 cm and was 1.27 and 1.34 million m2/ha for the ‘Dniprovskyi 39’ variety and 1.16 and 1.22 million m2/ha for the variety ‘Vinets’. In the first sowing period, this indicator was slightly lower and amounted to 1.18 and 1.23 million m2/ha for the ‘Dniprovskyi 39’ variety and 0.98 and 1.02 million m2/ha for the ‘Vinets’ variety respectively. In the third sowing period, it was the smallest one and equated 1.09 and 1.13 million m2/ha for the ‘Dniprovskyi 39’ variety, and 0.88 and 0.93 million m2/ha for the ‘Vinets’ variety at the optimal seeding depth. The photosynthetic potential was lower at the seeding depth of 2 and 8 cm, which is explained by the different soil and climatic parameters during a certain period of sorghum plant vegetation. The highest value of the photosynthetic capacity net indicator was obtained by sowing seeds at the optimal time and the optimal seeding depth and it equated 3.84–4.02 g/m2 per day for the ‘Dniprovskyi 39’ variety and 3.79 – 3.98 g/m2 per day for the ‘Vinets’ variety. Conclusions. It has been established that the sorghum plants had better vegetation and formed photosynthetic capacity by sowing seeds in the first decade of May at the planting depth of 4–6 cm, which we recommend for growing this crop in the Right-Bank Forest-Steppe of Ukraine.

Цель. Установить оптимальные сроки сева и глубину заделки семян сорго зернового сортов ‘Дніпровський 39’ и ‘Вінець’, обосновать их влияние на фотосинтетическую продуктивность посевов в условиях Правобережной Лесостепи Украины.Методы. Полевой, лабораторный, сравнительный, аналитический, обобщающий, математически-статистический.Результаты. Наилучшие результаты фотосинтетической продуктивности посевов сорго зернового получены во время сева в I декаде мая (второй срок) на глубине заделки семян 4–6 см. Соответственно, площадь листовой поверхности в этих вариантах в период «выбрасывания метелки–цветения» достигала максимума и составляла 36,13–38,81 тыс. м2/га у сорта ‘Дніпровський 39’ и 34,23 – 36,91 тыс. м2/га у сорта ‘Вінець’. При севе семян в III декаде апреля (первый срок) при вышеуказанных значениях глубины заделки площадь листовой поверхнос­ти у сортов была несколько меньше и составляла 29,56–31,20 тыс. м2/га у сорта ‘Дніпровський 39’ и 27,76–29,40 тыс. м2/га у сорта ‘Вінець’. При севе семян во II декаде мая (третий срок) площадь листовой поверхности составляла 30,68–32,92 тыс. м2/га у сорта ‘Дніпровський 39’ и 29,08–31,32 тыс. м2/га у сорта ‘Вінець’. Фотосинтетический потенциал был самым высоким в растениях сорго зернового во втором сроке сева семян на глубине заделки 4–6 см и составлял 1,27 и 1,34 млн м2/га у сорта ‘Дніпровський 39’ и 1,16 и 1,22 млн м2/га у сорта ‘Вінець’. В первом сроке сева этот показатель был несколько ниже и составлял 1,18 и 1,23 млн м2/га у сорта ‘Дніпровський 39’ и 0,98 и 1,02 млн м2/га у сорта ‘Вінець’, соответственно. В третьем сроке сева он был самым низким, у сорта ‘Дніпровський 39’ этот показатель составлял 1,09 и 1,13 млн м2/га, у сорта ‘Вінець’ – 0,88 и 0,93 млн м2/га при оптимальных значениях глубины заделки семян. На глубине заделки семян 2 и 8 см фотосинтетический потенциал был ниже, что объясняют различными почвенно-климатическими условиями в определенный период развития растений сорго. Наивысшее значение показателя чистой продуктивности фотосинтеза было получено при севе семян в оптимальные сроки и оптимальной глубине заделки семян и составляло 3,84–4,02 г/м2 в сутки у сорта ‘Дніпровський 39’ и 3,79–3,98 г/м2 в сутки у сорта ‘Вінець’, соответственно.Выводы. Лучше развивались и формировали фотосинтетическую продуктивность растения сорго зернового при севе семян в первой декаде мая на глубине заделки 4–6 см, которые и рекомендованы для выращивания данной культуры в Правобережной Лесостепи Украины. | Purpose. За сівби насіння у ІІІ декаді квітня (перший строк) за таких самих значень глибини загортання площа листкової поверхні у сортів була дещо меншою і становила 29,56–31,20 тис. м2/га у сорту ‘Дніпровський 39’ та 27,76–29,40 тис. м2/га у сорту ‘Вінець’. За сівби насіння у ІІ декаді травня (третій строк) площа листкової поверхні дорівнювала 30,68–32,92 тис. м2/га у сорту ‘Дніпровський 39’ та 29,08–31,32 тис. м2/га у сорту ‘Вінець’. Фотосинтетичний потенціал був найвищим у рослин сорго зернового за ІІ строку сівби насіння та глибини загортання 4–6 см й дорівнював 1,27 та 1,34 млн м2/га у сорту ‘Дніпровський 39’ і 1,16 та 1,22 млн м2/га у сорту ‘Вінець’. За ІІІ строку сівби він був найменшим та у сорту ‘Дніпровський 39’ дорівнював 1,09 і 1,13 млн м2/га, у сорту ‘Вінець’ 0,88 і 0,93 млн м2/га за оптимальних значень глибини загортання насіння. За глибини загортання насіння 2 та 8 см фотосинтетичний потенціал був нижчим, що пояснюють різними ґрунтово-кліматичними умовами у певний період розвитку рослин сорго. Найбільше значення показника чистої продуктивності фотосинтезу було отримано за сівби насіння в оптимальні строки та за оптимальної глибини загортання насіння і становило у сорту ‘Дніпровський 39’, відповідно, 3,84–4,02 г/м2 за добу, у сорту ‘Вінець’ 3,79–3,98 г/м2 за добу.Висновки. Найкраще розвивались та формували фотосинтетичну продуктивність рослини сорго зернового за сівби насіння у першій декаді травня на глибину загортання 4–6 см, які й рекомендовано для вирощування даної культури в Правобережному Лісостепу України.
