Мета. Оцінювання стану сортових ресурсів і адаптивно-продуктивного потенціалу рослин васильків справжніх (базиліку). Методи. Польові, лабораторні, статистичні і розрахунково-аналітичні. До польових належали розбивка дослідної ділянки та польові роботи. Лабораторний метод застосовували для аналізу рослин, оцінювання якості врожаю, дослідження фізичних, хімічних та мікробіологічних властивостей ґрунту. Статистичним та розрахунково-аналітичним методами обчислювали результати. Результати. За результатами досліджень до групи високопластичних сортів за ознакою «товарна врожайність» було віднесено сорти ‘Темний опал’, ‘МФІ-2’, ‘Сяйво’ та ‘Бадьорий’, де коефіцієнт регресії був у межах 0,57–0,78. Найвище значення селекційної цінності за ознакою «маса рослин» було відзначено у сорту ‘Темний опал’, Sc = 347,22. До групи високопластичних сортів за ознакою «маса рослин» було віднесено сорти ‘Містер Барнс’, ‘МФІ-2’, ‘Рутан’, ‘Сяйво’ та ‘Бадьорий’, для яких коефіцієнт регресії був у межах 0,91–0,99. До інтенсивних віднесли сорти ‘Темний опал’, ‘Єреванський’, ‘Аметист’ та ‘Лимонний аромат’. Показник коефіцієнту регресії для цих сортів знаходився у межах 1,03–1,16. Аналіз поєднання високої продуктивності, кількісних ознак структури врожаю з рівнем екологічної пластичності та стабільності свідчить про різні шляхи формування цих показників окремих сортів. Встановлено, що високий рівень пластичності та стабільності врожайності не гарантує аналогічного результату за окремими кількісними ознаками його структури. Висновки. За величиною параметрів варіювання ознак можна оцінювати ступінь адаптивності сортів васильків справжніх. Отримані результати дозволять об’єктивно оцінити адаптивно-продуктивний потенціал сортів та якісно провести добір вихідних форм для подальшої селекції на адаптивність.

Мета. Удосконалити елементи технології вирощування гібридів помідора методом малооб’ємної гідропоніки у скляних теплицях в умовах IV світлової зони України. Провести господарсько-біологічну оцінку та встановити реакцію на фактори навколишнього середовища нових гібридів F1 помідора; вивчити динаміку плодоношення гібридів F1 помідора і визначити найбільш ранньостиглі та врожайні; вплив продуктивності рослин на динаміку формування урожайності та продуктивність помідора за вирощування методом малооб’ємної гідропоніки у скляних теплицях; дібрати спосіб формування щеплених рослин. Методи. Лабораторно-виробничі досліди проведили впродовж 2015–2017 рр. у скляних зимових теплицях типу «Венло» у Приватному акціонерному товаристві «Комбінат «Тепличний» (с. Калинівка, Броварський р-н, Київська обл.), що знаходиться у IV світловій зоні України. Для аналізу результатів досліджень використовували стандартні статистичні методи. Результати. Проаналізовано динаміку наростання врожаю та щомісячна врожайність під впливом способів формування стебла рослини. Дослідження проводилися упродовж 2015–2017 рр. у блокових гідропонних зимових теплицях типу «Венло». Аналіз показників урожайності виявив перевагу варіанта формування у два стебла після 3-ї китиці на кожній другій рослині в маті та після 9-ї на кожній четвертій рослині в маті. Отримані результати досліджень свідчать про істотне збільшення загальної врожайності за нових способів формування рослин помідора. Формування в рослин двох стебел після 3-ї китиці на кожній другій рослині та після 9-ї на кожній четвертій рослині в маті сприяло збільшенню врожайності на 9,45 кг/м2 (або 16,9%), що істотно підвищить економічний ефект технології вирощування помідора у закритому ґрунті. Аналіз умісту показників біохімічного складу плодів помідора не виявив істотної різниці між варіантами з різними способами формування рослин. Висновки. За вирощування гібрида ‘Мерліс F1’ доцільно застосовувати формування рослин за такою схемою: у два стебла після 3-ї китиці на кожній другій рослині в маті та після 9-ї на кожній четвертій рослині в маті. Це дає змогу максимально навантажити рослину плодами та отримати вищу продуктивність однієї рослини завдяки утворенню більшої кількості плодів, що забезпечує отримання найвищої ранньої врожайності на рівні 31,7 кг/м2. Найвищу загальну врожайність у середньому за роки досліджень (65,3 кг/м2) отримано за формування рослин у два стебла після 3-ї китиці на кожній другій рослині в маті та після 9-ї на кожній четвертій рослині в маті. Мета. Установити посухостійкість сортів троянд чайно-гібридної садової групи у польових і лабораторних умовах. Методи. Польовий, біометричний, лабораторний, статистичний. Посухостійкість рослин у польових умовах оцінювали за 6-баловою шкалою С. С. П’ятницького (1961), досліди в лабораторних умовах полягали у визначенні водоутримувальної спроможності листків, їх водного дефіциту, здатності відновлювати тургор, оводненості тканин за уніфікованою методикою Інституту садівництва НААН (Китаєв та ін., 1998, 2009). Результати. За візуальними спостереженнями в періоди з низьким рівнем вологозабезпечення тургор листків не знижувався, тож у польових умовах посухостійкість сортів чайно-гібридних троянд оцінено у 5 балів за 6-баловою шкалою. У лабораторних умовах вираховували водний дефіцит у листках (у відсотках від загального вмісту води в стані повного насичення). За показниками водоутримувальної здатності тканин листків сортів чайно-гібридних троянд, виділено сорти з рівнем втрати вологи в експозиції через 12 годин – від найнижчого до найвищого. Висновки. Усі сорти чайно-гібридних троянд колекції НБС ім. М. М. Гришка НАН України, які були у досліді, в польових умовах є достатньо посухостійкими. За показниками посухостійкості листків із 44-х модельних сортів виділено 9 із низьким (до 22,30%), 5 – із середнім (до 24,37%), 30 – з високим і дуже високим (27,23–46,47%) рівнем утрати вологи. Аналіз отриманих результатів досліджень свідчить про те, що фізіологічні процеси, пов’язані з утратою вологи є сортоспецифічною, генетично спадковою ознакою. Сорти чайно-гібридних троянд різного географічного походження, що показали критерій посухостійкості від середнього до найвищого, можна рекомендувати для вирощування в умовах Правобережного Лісостепу України

Мета. Pозкрити сировинний потенціал інтродукованих у Національному ботанічному саду імені М. М. Гришка НАН України (НБС) представників роду Paeonia L. за вмістом біологічно активних сполук. Методи. Об’єктом досліджень слугували інтродуковані рослини роду Paeonia: півонія молочноквіткова (P. lactiflora Pall.), півонія лікарська (P. officinalis L.) та її гібридні форми: P. officinalis ‘Rubra Plena’, F1 (P. officinalis ‘Rubra Plena’ ´ P. peregrina Mill.), сорт селекції НБС ‘Квазімодо’ [P. lactiflora ‘M-lle Jeanne Riviere’ ´ F1 (P. officinalis ‘Rubra Plena’ ´ P. peregrina)], півонія незвичайна (P. anomala L.). Методами спектрофотометрії, титриметрії і колориметрії визначали вміст поліфенольних сполук, гомополісахаридів, аскорбінової кислоти та інших речовин. Аналіз біологічно активних сполук проводили методом високоефективної рідинної хроматографії ВЕРХ (HPLC). Результати. Зафіксовано видові й сортові відмітності в кількості поліфенолів у рослинах різних видів та форм. Установлено, що корені досліджуваних рослин F1 (P. officinalis ‘Rubra Plena’ ´ P. peregrina), сорту селекції НБС ‘Квазімодо’, P. lactiflora містять набагато більшу кількість полісахаридів порівняно з коренями P. аnomala. У рослинах півонії середня частка вітаміну С становить 37,65% та варіює між представниками роду в межах від 22,10 ± 2,18 [F1 (P. officinalis ‘Rubra Plena’ ´ P. peregrina)] до 47,60 ± 3,69 (P. anomala) і 49,30 ± 5,50% (P. lactiflora). Максимальний уміст каротиноїдів зафіксовано у коренях P. officinalis ‘Rubra Plena’ (2,10 ± 0,21 мг%) і F1 (P. officinalis ‘Rubra Plena’ ´ P. peregrina) (2,20 ± 0,13 мг%). Значна кількість вільної галової кислоти спостерігається в коренях P. anomala, галотанінів – у P. lactiflora. Висновки. Результати фітохімічних досліджень рослин видів, гібридів та сортів роду Paeonia, інтродукованих у Національному ботанічному саду ім. М. М. Гришка НАН України, показали, що вони накопичують значний уміст основних біологічно активних сполук: флавоноїдів, дубильних речовин, моно- та полісахаридів, пігментів. Перспективними за комплексом діючих речовин є корені P. lactiflora та P. officinalis, яких у них набагато більше, ніж у P. anomala. Створені на основі цих видів гібридні форми P. officinalis ‘Rubra Plena’, F1 (P. officinalis ‘Rubra Plena’ ´ P. peregrina) і сорт ‘Квазімодо’, не поступаються видам за вмістом фенольних сполук, цукрів, пігментів та аскорбінової кислоти. Частка пеоніфлорину в коренях становить для P. lactiflora (1,95%), P. anomala (1,09%), P. officinalis ‘Rubra Plena’ (0,95%), P. officinalis (0,78%). Досліджені види, гібриди та сорти пропонуються для вирощування в культурі з метою заготівлі лікарської сировини як джерела біологічно активних сполук з можливістю доповнення, а то й заміни офіційного виду півонії незвичайної (P. anomala).

Purpose. To reveal the peculiarities of the seasonal rhythm of growth and development of Itoh Group peony cultivars in the conditions of the M. M. Hryshko National Botanical Garden National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine. Methods. The objects of research were plants of 24 cultivars of Itoh Group peonies. The research was conducted on the experimental field of the Department of Flowering and Ornamental Plants of the M. M. Hryshko National Botanical Garden National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine during 2017–2020. The sum of effective temperatures was calculated by summing the daily air temperatures reduced by the biological zero. Results. The phenological phases of Ito Group cultivars growth were determined. Phenological spectra for different groups are presented. It was determined that the flowering of early cultivars: ‘First Arrival’, ‘Hillary’, ‘Julia Rose’, ‘Morning Lilac’, ‘Old Rose Dandy’, ‘Sonoma Apricot’ starts at the sum of effective temperatures ≥ 400 °С. The middle group hybrids bloom when the sum of temperatures reaches 450 °С. This group includes: ‘Bartzella’, ‘Callie’s Memory’, ‘Cora Louise’, ‘Lollipop’, ‘Scarlet Heaven’, ‘Sonoma Velvet Ruby’, ‘Yellow Dream’, ‘Yellow Emperor’, ‘Yellow Heaven’, ‘Yellow Waterlily’. Late flowering group includes: ‘Border Charm’, ‘Garden Treasure’, ‘Kopper Kettle’, ‘Pastel Splendor’, ‘Prairie Charm’, ‘Viking Full Moon’, ‘White Emperor’, ‘Yankee Doodle Dandy’; accumulation of effective temperatures above 500 °С is an essential requirement for their flowering. Conclusions. Itoh Group cultivars successfully pass all phases of seasonal development and manage to complete the growing season. Cultivars belong to the spring-summer-autumn-green phenorhythmotype. The onset of the corresponding phenological phases in peonies of the studied group of cultivars requires a certain sum of effective temperatures. Plant outgrowth begins on March 23 – April 2, when the sum of effective temperatures ranges from 20–40 °С. The flowering of varieties characterized as late spring, lasts 6–9 days ± 3–4 days, depending on the varietal characteristics and the year of cultivation. A rapid increase in the sum of effective temperatures up to 700 °C shortens the flowering phase by 4–5 days. An assortment of early (May 22–25 ± 2–3 days), medium (May 26–28 ± 3–5 days) and late-flowering (May 29–31 ± 4–6 days) cultivars has been selected, what ensures the continuity of peony flowering during two months.

Purpose. The objective of this study was to evaluate the morphological parameters of Lycium spp. seeds from the collections in M. M. Hryshko National Botanical Garden (NBS) NAS of Ukraine. Methods. Cultivars and varieties of three Lycium species (Lycium barbarum, L. chinense, L. truncatum) were studied in the period from 2016 till 2019. The following morphometric measurments were conducted: seeds weight, seeds length, seeds width and index of seeds shape. Basic statistical analyses were performed using PAST 2.17. Hierarchical cluster analyses of similarity between genotypes were computed on the basis of the Bray-Curtis similarity index. Correlation between traits was determined using the Pearson correlation coefficient. Results. Cultivars and varieties of different species of Lycium varied in weight, shape, and size of seeds. Seed weight varied from 0.54 to 3.54 mg, seed length from 1.90 to 3.06 mm, seed width from 1.43 to 2.53 mm. The shape indexes of seeds were found ranging from 0.73 to 0.80. The analysis of coefficient of variation showed the difference of variability in morphometric characteristics between some Lycium spp. cultivars and varieties. The most variable features: seeds weight (8.51–28.22%) and seeds length (5.07–24.81%) are important parameters for selection. The use of cluster analysis made it possible to establish the similarity between the species of the studied Lycium species. Conclusions. Diagnostic signs by seed morphometry for differentiation of Lycium species were revealed. The analysis of coefficient of variation showed the difference of variability in morphometric characteristics between some Lycium cultivars and varieties. The most variable characteristics of the studied genotypes were seed weight and length, which are important parameters for selection because they determine the pulp content and number of seeds, as well as the ratio of these parameters between them. It is through variability that promising varieties with low seed weight and length can be selected, Due to securing them later vegetatively.

Purpose. To reveal the features of agrobiological parameters formation of sweet sorghum various varieties and hybrids in the conditions of the Right-Bank Forest-Steppe of Ukraine. Methods. During 2018–2020 twenty-one varieties and hybrids of sweet sorghum of various ecological and geographical origins (Ukraine, Russia, USA, France, Germany, Hungary, Brazil) were studied in the field. Parameters like plant height and indices of their individual productivity (grain weight per panicle, 1000 grain weight, etc.), yield of dry biomass and grain, content of sugar in juice and protein in grain, as well as estimated sugar and protein yield in a crop. The counts were carried out in the phase of physiological ripeness of the culture. Results. In the group of Ukrainian varieties and hybrids, the plants were from 272 to 306 cm high, in the foreign group – from 274 to 412 cm. Varieties ‘Red Amber’, ‘Sioux’, ‘Affas CJ 899’, ‘Freed’ and ‘Early Orange’ are of high value for breeding practice, their plants were the tallest – from 388 to 412 cm. The panicle length of sweet sorghum cultivars of Ukrainian breeding ranged from 16.0 to 17.3 cm, foreign – from 11.0 to 19.4 cm. Grain weight from one panicle varied from 32.8 to 41.6 g and from 29.2 to 43.5 g, respectively. In a wide range, depending on the varietal characteristics, the indicator of the number of grains per panicle also varied from 1338 to 1708 pcs. The mass of 1000 grains of sweet sorghum ranged from 28.0 to 31.0 g in varieties and hybrids of Ukrainian breeding, in foreign ones – from 19.3 to 31.0 g. The yield of dry vegetative mass of cultivars of Ukrainian breeding was at the level of 8.24–9.11 t/ha. The highest rates were shown in hybrid ‘Mamont’ and ‘Huliver’ variety – 9.05 and 9.11 t/ha, respectively. For cultivars and hybrids of foreign breeding, this indicator varied from 7.00 to 12.17 t/ha. Significantly higher biomass in comparison with the standard variety (‘Sylosne 42’) was produced by ‘Vorai Sumac’, ‘Sorgo Cucre’, ‘Sioux’, ‘Freed’, ‘Red Amber’, ‘Mohavk’, ‘Affas CJ 899’, ‘Early Orange’ – 9.03–12.17 t/ha. The sugar content in sweet sorghum juice varied from 15.2 to 17.2%. The estimated sugar yield in Ukrainian cultivars was at the level of 0.82–0.89 t/ha, in foreign ones – from 0.72 to 1.18 t/ha. In all studied varieties it was the highest in ‘Sorgo Cucre’, ‘Sioux’, ‘Freed’, ‘Red Amber’, ‘Mohavk’, ‘Affas CJ 899’, ‘Early Orange’ – 0.94–1.18 t/ha. Conclusions. The productivity of sweet sorghum varies greatly depending on the origin of the variety and hybrid. In the conditions of the Right-Bank Forest-Steppe, in order to obtain a high sugar yield, it is advisable to grow ‘Sylosne 42’, ‘Favoryt’, ‘Troistyi’, ‘Dovista’, ‘Huliver’ varieties and ‘Ananas’, ‘Medovyi’, ‘Mamont’ hybrids. Varieties ‘Vaconia Orange’, ‘Vorai Sumac’, ‘Sorgo Cucre’ and hybrids ‘Ald Sorghum’, ‘Sioux’, ‘Freed’, ‘Red Amber’, ‘Mohavk’, ‘Affas CJ 899’, ‘Early Orange’ provide high yields of vegetative masses. Hybrids ‘Freed’, ‘Affas CJ 899’ and ‘Early Orange’ produce a large vegetative mass (11.08–12.17 t/ha), grain yield (8.00–8.15 t/ha) and a high protein content (9.8–11.3%).

Purpose. Grapevines (Vitis spp.) are affected by many viral diseases which cause serious pathological problems. GLRaV-3 is among the most widespread leafroll viruses, while Grapevine Fanleaf Virus (GFLV) is a destructive pathogen which reduces the lifespan of grapevine. Considering the impact and the spread of these diseases, our objective was to analyse the presence of these two viruses in several grapevine varieties in grapevine collection at ATTC Vlore. Data gathered from plant pathogens serve to better understand and prevent the spread of pathogens, as a mandatory rule for the quality control of certified plant material during vegetative propagation. Method. The presence of two common viruses were tested using virus specific primers; LC1/LC2 primer pair designed from the hHSP70 gene for detecting Grapevine Leafroll-associated Virus-3 (GLRaV3) and C3390/H2999 primer pair, designed from coat protein coding regions for detecting Grapevine Fanleaf Virus (GFLV), in six varieties; ‘Merlot’, ‘Kallmet’, ‘Shesh i zi’, ‘Shesh i bardhё’, ‘Debinё’, and ‘Pulёz’, provided through a randomised sampling procedure. One Step Reverse Transcription Polymerase Chain Reaction assay was used to detect the viral presence. Results showed a high (100%) prevalence of GLRaV3 virus in all of analysed samples, as the most frequent among the two pathogens. Analysis for of GFLV virus showed low infection rate, being present in only one sample. Conclusions. We herein show an efficient, fast and reproducible method for detecting grapevine viruses through one step RT-PCR. Our results suggest that sampling of the infected plant material should be avoided due to the presence of viral infections.

To create an industrial hemp variety of the Central European ecological and geographical type with a high cannabigerol content and universal application. Methods. Breeding (self-pollination, creation of artificial populations, selection), field, biochemical (thin-layer and gas-liquid chromatography of cannabinoid compounds), instrumental and technological assessment of fibre quality, and statistical methods. Results. Variety ‘Vik 2020’ was obtained as a result of creation of artificial populations. The plants are characterized by higher content of cannabigerol (1.034 ± 0.0323%), and almost zero of other secondary metabolites, such as cannabidivarin, cannabidiol, cannabichromene and psychotropic tetrahydrocannabinol (0.003 ± 0.0011; 0.018 ± 0.0080; 0.012 ± 0.0027, and 0.005 ± 0.0012%, respectively). The t rait of cannabigerol content is quite stable within the population and is not correlated with the trait of tetrahydrocannabinol content (r = -0.23). TLC showed that cannabigerol accumulated mainly in the form of cannabigerolic acid and to a lesser extent as a neutral compound, which is consistent with the theory that this substance is a precursor for the synthesis of other cannabinoids. According to the results of the competitive variety test, when growing to obtain fibre and seeds, the variety features short height, specifically significantly lower total (206.4 cm) and technical stem length (135.6 cm) compared to the standard variety, significantly higher inflorescence length (70.8 cm), which determine the formation of the significant yield of biomass suitable for pharmaceutical use and high seed yield (0.98 t/ha). The yield of total fibre was the same as in the standard variety (29.0%), but its quality and technological value for primary processing were higher. The variety had a homogeneous sex structure, resistance to bioltic and abiotic environmental factors. Plants reached biological maturity in 116 days (BBCH 89). This cultivar is recommended for obtaining seeds, quality fiber and potentially cannabigerol (on condition of changes in legislation). Conclusions. The efficiency of using self-pollinating lines in breeding with their subsequent combining into a synthetic population and improving selection was proved by the case of a new variety of industrial hemp ‘Vik 2020’, characterized by an increased content of cannabigerol and the absence of psychotropic properties

Мета. Встановити особливості формування елементів продуктивності рослин видів роду Galega залежно від сортових властивостей та умов вегетації за інтродукції в Правобережному Лісостепу України. Методи. Упродовж 2004–2020 рр. в лабораторних та польових умовах Національного ботанічного саду досліджували шість сортів рослин видів роду козлятника (Galega) власної селекції. Використано наступні методи: теоретичні (математична обробка), практичні (описові, порівняльні). Оцінювали такі морфометричні параметри, як: висота рослин; кількість пагонів, листків, суцвіть на рослину; розміри плодів; довжина кореневої системи, а також продуктивний потенціал; азотфіксуюча здатність рослин; маса продуктивних пагонів; теплоємність; урожайність надземної маси; вихід сухої речовини та енергії з одиниці площі. Результати. Встановлено, що сорти G. orientalis Lam. (‘Кавказький бранець’, ‘Салют’, ‘НБС-75’, ‘Рябчик’) та G. officinalis L. (‘Гарант’, ‘Фламінго’) за інтродукції в Правобережному Лісостепу України характеризувались високою продуктивністю надземної фітомаси (28,6–62,4 т/га), а також виходом сухого залишку (7,12–16,5 т/га). У структурі надземної маси досліджених сортів на долю стебел припадало 37,0–44,2%, листків – 40,9–51,4%, суцвіть – 11,6–14,9% від загальної маси рослин. Теплоємність сировини рослин G. orientalis становила 4051–4275 ккал/га. Загальний вихід енергії із надземної маси сягав 30,44–67,85 Гкал/га. Висновки. Рослини видів роду Galega з високим потенціалом біомаси здатні забезпечувати сировиною для виробництва біогазу. Найкраще серед досліджених шести сортів власної селекції зарекомендували себе ‘Фламінго’, ‘НБС-75’, ‘Рябчик’.
