Marine sediments naturally contain arsenic at low concentrations. Increased concentrations could come from natural sources such as volcanic activity, hydrothermal vents and others, but they are usually the result of human activities. The largest number of arsenic compounds possesses toxic properties and due to this arsenic is classified as hazardous substances to the environment and biological species. Therefore, arsenic and its compounds are subject to chemical and biological analysis of sediments. Based on the analysis of sediment samples for arsenic content, this paper presents arsenic spatial distribution in the investigated area of the South-East Adriatic.

Species belong to class Holothuriidae play significant role in the transmission of energy within the sea bottom biocoenoses. Their abundance and distribution have high impact on the biocoenoses dynamic and at the same time it can be use as indicator of the anthropogenic influence on marine environment. Data present in the paper are results of the investigation of their distribution on the Montenegrin shelf and comparison with neighboring area. Obtained results show presence of six species, and two of them are for the first time recorded for a given area.

The content of major elements Al, K and Mg was investigated in surface sediment samples from the coastal area of the South-eastern Adriatic, in sediment fraction less than 2 mm. Obtained results were used to present horizontal spatial distribution of these elements in sediment of the area studied. The spatial distribution of elements showed similarities in the behavior of Al and K, while the distribution pattern of Mg in sediment was contrary to Al and K. It can be noticed that the sediment composition in terms of these elements reflects the geological characteristics of the continental hinterland in the South-eastern Adriatic coastal zone.

In Boka Kotorska Bay there are two recorded species of Copepoda from family Temoridae: Temora stylifera and Temora longicomis. This paper presents the data on horizontal distribution and abundance of these species during 2007. Temora stylifera has a wide horizontal distribution in coastal and open waters of Adriatic sea, while Temora longicomis is a typical representative of estuary-neritic waters of northern Adriatic, Kvarner area and the Italian coats at the west. Their abundance was particularly high in spring and summer.
