Institute for Development of Water Resources Jaroslav Černi and the Republc Hydrometeorological Service of Serbia carried out detailed processing and analysis of available hydrometeorological data within the amendments of the draft for Water Management Master Plan of Serbia in 2009. In this particular case, the most important characteristics of time series of hydrological and meteorological parameters on key sections of hydrological and meteorological stations, their conventional processing and analysis was completed and updated. The final goal of amendments of the draft of Water Management Master Plan is to provide elements to define the balance of available water resources in the territory of the Republic of Serbia, necessary for defining the strategy of water use and defining the conditions for integrated and rational management. This paper presents the most important elements of water balance using modern GIS technology.

The paper presents results of microbiological quality of three drinking water sources – Ratno ostrvo, Petrovaradinska ada and Strand. The following analyses were carried out in 2010: total count of aerobic mesophilic bacteria at 37 deg C, count of organotrophs (categorization according to Kohl), aerobic facultative organotrophs, lipolytic and hydrocarbon oxidizing bacteria. Organotrophic count was determined on low nutritive R2A medium. Enzymatic activity of water was also determined and water was categorized according to index of phosphatase activity (IFA).

In this paper the results of preliminary investigations of microbiological quality of seawater and sediment are presented. Analyses are performed by membrane filtration. The samples were collected near the sawage outfalls in Bokakotorska bay. It is noticed much higher number of bacteria – indicators of fecal pollution in sediment surface that seawater overlaying the sediment. Concentrations of bacteria diminished in layers of sediment laying deeper that sediment surface. Influence of wastewater is the most evident on 1 and 3 positions.

In order to determine the stable isotope content of hydrogen (2H/1H) and oxygen (18O/16O) from surface water and the Zavoj Lake, a sampling campaign was carried out in November 2011. Vertical profiles of water samples were collected in the sections close to the dam to check whether there was any detectable influence from the inflowing Visočica River and wheter there was a vertical isotopic stratification of the lake water. Temperature gradient of up to 5.5 deg C between surface and about 60 m depth is observed. Dominant process of mixing the inflowing Visočica River and water leaking from diversion tunnel appear close to the dam.

Constant and highly productive agricultural productivity in the last decades has a tightly connected to irrigation. It is necessary to monitor the irrigation water quality in order to prevent or mitigate negative consequences on yield, soil and irrigation equipment. Besides the major waterways, the detailed canal network has great potential as a water resource. Peculiarities of this kind of water resources require monitoring of water suitability. During a three-year period of research, water was sampled on some localities in Backa and Banat (Serbia). The results of the research indicate that the water quality does not meet the demands proposed by the classifications. This proves the fact that during the irrigation period, it is necessary to monitor the irrigation water quality.

A series of measurements has been conducted with various combinations of ejector dimensions. Variables were diameter of the nozzle and the distance between the end of the nozzle and the beginning of the pipe. Vacuum head in function of water flow was measured when there was no air flow, and when there was air flow (from a reservoir with constant volume). The results are presented in this paper.

This study investigates the effect of pH, temperature, contact time and initial metal concentration on Cu++ ions removal from water solutions, using biomass of Lagenaria vulgaris skin (LV). With higher pH, the efficiency of copper sorption increases and reaches its maximum at pH 7.0. Temperature has negative effect on sorption process due to its exothermic properties. Biosorption efficiency increases with time and reaches equilibium after 40 min. Increasing initial copper concentration gives an increase in biosorbent sorption capacity, and a proportional decrease in treatment efficiency. Obtained results have shown that LV based biosorbent is an efficient and available mean for toxic metal removal from natural and waste waters.

Anionic clays (layered double hydroxides) comprise positively charged layers with at least two different metal cations, octahedrally coordinated by hydroxyl groups. The positive charges of layered double hydroxides are counterbalanced by interlayer anions. The interlayer anions and water, which fill the interlayer space, are often labile. Therefore, anionic clays exhibit anion exchange capacity (AEC). Anionic clays which have a high surface area and a high anion exchange capacity, are potential adsorbents for anionic contanimants, such as the oxyanion of chrome. The adsorption study of chromium (VI) from aqueous solutions by natural cationic clay mineral (kaolinite, montmorillonite, etc.) was not given much attention, perhaps due to the fact cationic clays have negatively charged layers and clay mineral surface shows no affinity for oxyanion of chrome.

Biofilm naturally occurs in many water distributive systems. The aim of the paper is to determine biofilm forming potential of bacteria isolated from tap water from Novi Sad. A colometric crystal violet microtitre plate test was used to determine bacterial potential to form biofilm. The results show that some isolates have a great potential to form biofilm, especially when grow on higher temperature and in the reach nutritive media.
