Drinking water quality in Podgorica [Montenegro, Serbia&Montenegro] - dependence of chlorination by products concentration on the organic matter in water
2003
Karajic, M. | Djurovic, D. (Institut za zdravlje Crne Gore, Podgorica (Serbia and Montenegro))
Presentation is dealing with data on raw and drinking water quality of water supply sources and water supply systems in Podgorica, Montenegro (Serbia&Montenegro). Special attention was paid to organic matter content, concentration of disinfectants and disinfection by-products. Average values of all parameters examined are below maximum permissible levels defined by regulations. That means that physical-chemical quality of water is excellent.

2003
Stevanetic, V. (Zavod za zastitu zdravlja, Uzice (Serbia and Montenegro))
Nowadays people increasingly use bottled water for drinking which makes bottling a very profitable business. The aim of this paper is better understanding of physical and chemical properties as well as the contents of dominating ions and microbiological purity of 13 spring waters existing on the territory of Zlatibor region (Serbia, Serbia&Montenegro) which according to its water capacity, its watershed features and good roads availability may be further explored for the purpose of water bottling.

2003
Regner, D. | Vuksanovic, N. | Stjepcevic, B. | Joksimovic, D. (Institut za biologiju mora, Kotor (Serbia and Montenegro))
In this paper, results of seasonal investigations throughout 2002, important for evaluation of the eutrophication and bacterial pollution of the Montenegrin coastal sea were presented. It was established that the difference between warmer and colder periods of the year was highest in the part of the Montenegrin coastal sea exposed to the strongest impact of the open waters of the Southern Adriatic.

2003
Ljubisavljevic, D. | Jovanovic, B. (Univerzitet u Beogradu, Beograd (Serbia and Montenegro). Gradjevinski fakultet)
Slow sand filtration is an effective water treatment process. However, the performance of slow sand filters is influenced by the raw water turbidity. Filtration on pebble-matrix and roughing filters is introduced as a process effective in reduction of raw water turbidity. Efficiencies of these pretreatments documented on the raw water sources world-wide are presented in this paper as well as the investigation results from the similar raw water source in Serbia (Serbia&Montenegro).

2003
Nedic, L. (Strucna skola "Sveti Sava", Bujanovac (Serbia and Montenegro)) | Stanisavljevic, M.
This paper presents a process for phenol removal comprising a reaction step in which phenol is polymerized in the presence of an enzyme horseradish peroxidase. A crude preparation from horseradish roots was used as a low purity source of the enzyme. The technical feasibility of the process was studied using 1 to 10 mM synthetic phenol solutions. Experimental results showed the potential of the proposed technique. A phenol conversion higher than 90% was observed at the polymerization process.

2003
Mandic, S. (Institut za biologiju mora, Kotor - Dobrota (Serbia and Montenegro)) | Kljajic, Z. | Joksimovic, A. | Mickovic, B. | Hegedis, A.
Sasko Lake, with surface area of 3.4 square km and depth of about 8 m, is situated is southwestern part of Montenegro (Serbia&Montenegro), within the hydrosystem of Skadarsko Lake. During 2002 and 2003, seasonal dynamics of main hydrographic, physical, chemical and biological parameters of this ecosystem was monitored. Reference measuring spots are defined, and in these places all future monitoring of system state will be accomplished. Also done are the preliminary batimetric measurements and maps of spaces suitable for development of breeding activities. In order to develop aquaculture as a strategic interest of Montenegro (Serbia&Montenegro), it is necessary to utilize these important potentials and place this important natural resource in full fuction. Included are the list of all fish species living in the lake, as well as the suggestion of species that could be suitable for commercial breeding.

2003
Radenkovic, Z. (Institut za vodoprivredu "Jaroslav Cerni", Beograd (Serbia and Montenegro)) | Jevtic, G. | Josipovic, J. | Jevtic, O.
Nis Tobacco Factory, Serbia (Serbia&Montenegro) has water supply from two resources, public water supply system and from its dug well. In periods of water shortages and smaller deliveries from public water supply system (e.g. recession periods) it is necessary to provide additional water quantities for proper functioning of tobacco refinement. For that purpose capability for utilization of terrace deposits for water supply was analyzed.

2003
Damjanovic, M. | Babic-Mladenovic, M. (Institut za vodoprivredu Jaroslav Cerni, Beograd (Serbia and Montenegro))
Regular monitoring of water quality of the Danube river in the backwater zone includes analysis of the sediment. It is well known that sediment is a sink place for the non degradable compounds and it reveales the long term water quality status in the reservoir. This paper presents the general results on the Iron Gate reservoir siltation. as well as some data regarding pollution level, based on investigations carried in the period of 2001-2002. The investigations included organic load of the sediment, heavy metals and organic pollutants content. The degree of pollution is evaluated on the basis of various criteria, also compared to results of previous case studies.

2003
Nikic, Z. (Univerzitet u Beogradu, Beograd (Serbia and Montenegro). Sumarski fakultet)
The fenced hunting area "Crni Lug" near Progar (Serbia, Serbia&Montenegro), included swamp tracts that have been drying. A natural environment of free game has changed over the last fifteen years. The unfavourable hydrological trend is explained by the antropogenic factor active in the hunting area and beyond it. The prevailing hydrogeological situation is interpreted and steps for rehabilitation of marshes are recommended. One of the emphsized goals is the supply of good water for animals throughout the year. Favourable hydrogeology and construction of adequate facilities in the hunting area will suffice for the revival of all activities related to water: flood control, agriculture, water supply, and hunting as a particularly profitable activity.

2003
Ristic, R. | Kadovic, R. | Djekovic, V. | Letic, Lj. | Nikic, Z. (Univerzitet u Beogradu, Beograd (Serbia and Montenegro). Sumarski fakultet)
One of the most important strategic-development directions of Serbia in the 21st century is restoration of hilly-mountainous regions. Stara Planina represents the region with extraordinary natural potentials almost unused, especially the part upstream of the reservoir Zavoj. Development of sheep raising on huge meadow-pasture surfaces in the catchment of river Visocica is possible, taking into account natural characteristics of the area, education and tradition of inhabitants. Catchment area of river Visocica provides water for water-supply reservoir Zavoj, so it is very important to apply erosion control measures on the slopes, as well as stopping the eroded material and pollutants before reaching the water courses. Agroforestry is optimal system of land use, with indispensable conservation and protective measures.
