The aim of this research was to verify the action of sodium hypochlorite (NaOCl) in the control of Erysiphe diffusa in soybean plants applied alone or mixed to a fungicide. NaOCl was applied eight times during crop cycle in parcels that received the product in concentrations of 0,2; 0,4 and 0,6%, applied alone, and applied with fungicide, in only two applications. There was a control parcel and a fungicide parcel for comparison. It was not observed statistical differences among treatments in the comparison of the development of the disease in the parcels treated with NaOCl alone, fungicide and NaOCl mixed to a fungicide. It is suggested that more research should be done with NaOCl to evaluate its potential for fungus control.

The melon, the main exportation product Potiguar, faces enormous phytosanitary problems in the phases of production and postharvest. The latent infections represent serious problems for exportation of the fruits. Nevertheless, the number of products registered for postharvest treatment of melon is reduced. In view of that, was evaluated the efficiency of three pesticides thiabendazole, azoxystrobin and imazalil utilized, in the commercial doses of 194g, 8g and 100g, a.i. /100 l, respectively, in storage conditions at ambient temperature in the control of faulness postharvest caused for Alternaria alternata. The effect of pesticides on the mycelial growth, sporulation and germination of the fungi was evaluated, as well as the efficiency of the pesticides in the control of the fungi in melons. After the immersion of fruits in the fungicidal solution, discs of 5mm of PDA medium with the fungi structures were inoculated. After, four fruits were put in each cartoon package and storaged for 36 hours in a humid chamber. After that, the fruits were taken out of the humid chamber and storaged at ambient temperature. The Imazalil has inhibited 100% of the mycelial growth and sporulation of A. alternata. Although the azoxystrobin only reduced 36% of the mycelial growth, when compared with the standard sample, it shows efficiency related tosporulation. The Thiabendazole was also efficient to reduce the mycelial growth. However, it had not the same efficiency related to sporulation. All pesticides researched were efficient in the control "in vitro", but they did not show any efficiency in the control of fungi in fruits storaged at ambient temperature.

It was evaluated banana weevil infestation in six varieties of banana, in the region of Inhambupe - Bahia, using itself of traps of the type "cheese". The biggest level of infestation occurred in the variety Great Naine, that was statistical significant, with 972 captured insects, average of 7,59 insects/traps. The other varieties presented low index of infestation. With exception of Tap Maeo.

The use of spontaneous species as green manure en the rocket production has been produce satisfactory results. The experiment was carried out at a greenhouse of Plant Science Department of the Universidade Federal Rural do Semi-Árido (UFERSA), Mossoró-RN, in the period of 2008, with the objective of determing of different decomposition times of malva veludo rocket production. A completely randomized desings with six treatments and four replications. The treatments consist of: (7 days incorporated), T2 (incorporated 14 days); T3 (incorporated 21 days); T4 (incorporated 28 days); T5 (incorporated 35 days); T6 (fertilized soil). The evaluated traits were: plant height, number of leaves per pot, dry mass and yield. The time of decomposition of 14 days was what provided the best rocket production.

The lettuce is a leafy vegetable and when it is cultivated in regions of intense solar radiation it can¿t develop it's full genetic potential. In this direction this work had the objective of evaluating the productivity of the Butterhead lettuce cultivar using different types of screens in the region of the Submédio São Francisco. The experiment was carried out in raised planting beds, using black screens with 30 and 50% of shading, white screens and in the open sun. The statistical design was the factorial 2x4 and the means were compared by the Turkey test at 5% of probability. In each treatment a termohigrometre and temometers at 40 cm from the ground were coupled with a black globe to get the radiant thermal load, the temperature of the air and the humidity index. At the end of the trial chlorophyll, the diameter of the head, plant height, the number of leaves per plant, the leaf area, fresh and dry weight of plants were collected. The screens affected the parameters analyzed and the treatment PS and TB of shading were the best for commercial parameters.

The availability of nitrogen interferes in the dry matter quantity produced by the common bean crop, carrying on earlier or later closure of row spacings. Thus, the objective this study was to evaluate the response of common bean in three plants population (200, 240 and 300,000 plants per ha) in winter, to the nitrogen application at sowing (10 or 20 kg ha-1) and nitrogen rates at sidedressing (0, 25, 50, 75 and 100 kg ha-1). The experimental design was a randomized block with four replicates in a factorial arrangement 3x2x5. According to the results obtained it was concluded that: a smaller plants population provided significant increase on productivity. Nitrogen rates at sowing (10 or 20 kg ha-1) did not alter the common bean productivity. The application of increasing nitrogen rates proposed significant increment of productivity and the fertilization with 100 kg ha-1 at sidedressing increased in 20% the grain productivity compared with the control.

The aim of this work was the study of proline and aminoacids accumulation in two cowpea ultivars, previously identified as tolerant (Pitiúba) and sensitive to salinity (TVu 2331), along the stress exposition time. Plants of both cultivars were exposed to NaCl 75 mM (salt stress), added at rate of 25 mM day-1 in nutritious solution and its behavior was compared with control ones, kept at the same environmental conditions. In general, salt stress inhibited more the growth in TVu 2331 cultivar. The stressed plants of this cultivar also presented larger proline accumulation in their leaves, suggesting the existence of a protection mechanism. TVu 2331 cultivar also presented tendency of more accumulation of aminoacids in the leaves and roots, which could have occurred due its higher growth inhibition.

The experiment was carried out at a greenhouse of Plant Science Department of the Universidade Federal Rural do Semi-Árido (UFERSA), Mossoró-RN, with the objective of determing the effect green manuring with scarlet starglory in coverage in agronomic performance of lettuce. A completely randomized desing with six treatments and four replications. The treatments consist of: T1 (scarlet starglory in coverage 35 days ; T2 (scarlet starglory in coverage 28 days); T3 (scarlet starglory in coverage 21 days); T4 (scarlet starglory in coverage 14 days); T5 (scarlet starglory in coverage 7 days); T6 - Control (no fertilized soil). The evaluated traits were: plant height, Horizontal and vertical diameter of the root (mm), shoot fresh and dry mass (g); roots fresh and dry mass (g). The time of decomposition of 42 days was the maximum provided for all characteristics evaluated.

The present work had as objective to evaluate the influence of pre-germinatives treatments to overcome dormancy in seeds of albizia (Albizia lebbeck) with different colorations. It took place an experiment at greenhouse UFERSA, in Mossoró-RN, in completely randomized design with the treatments distributed in outline factorial 8x2, with the factors treatments for pre-germination and classes of seeds (clear seeds and dark seeds), in four replications of 25 seeds. The germinative pré-germinative consisted either in the immersion of the seeds in sulfuric acid for ten, 15 and 20 minutes; immersion in sodium hypochlorite for ten, 15 and 20 minutes; cutting in the tegument in the opposite side of the embryonic axis and the control (the control was represented by intact seeds). Were analyzed the following parameters: first germination count, germination speed index, and percentage of germination. . By considering the results, it was observed that the dark seeds were better than clear seed. The immersion treatments in sulfuric acid for 10 and 20 minutes and the cutting in the tegument were the most efficient for the break of seeds dormancy.

Aiming at to characterize a population of angry bean (Capparis flefluosa) they were appraised 30 plants of each category (trees, adult pruned and regeneration), disposed to the case in a palm area. They were appraised the height of the plant, diameter of the height of the chest, diameter of the height of the base, presence of floral buttons, florescimento, fructification in you hoist. For interpretation of the results one was used analyzes of variance, with randomized designe consting. The medium height of the appraised plants was of 5,1 m, diameter of the height of the chest of 16,8 cm, diameter of the height of the base 18,6 cm and diameter of the cup 5,3 m. you hoist presented Them floral buttons between January and February, they bloomed between January and March and they fructified between February and March. The chemical composition among the categories presented a medium tenor for dry matter (MS), crude protein (PB), fiber in neutral detergent (FDN), fiber in acid detergent (FDA), mineral matter (MM), organic matter (OM), hemicelulose (HEM), cellulose (CEL) and lignin (LIG), of 49,5%; 15,4%; 54,1%; 35,6%; 8,9%; 91,1%; 18,4%; 27,6% and 7,2%, respectively. The obtained results indicated that the angry bean possesses similar chemical composition the legumes herbage, being considered an alternative for the exploration in consortium systems seeking to the animal feeding in periods of shortage of forage of the area.
