This work was accomplished with the objective of establishing a technique for the control of the oxidation, in the micropropagation in vitro of the Aloysia virgata. The experimental design utilized was the completely randomized one, with 5 treatments and 20 replications. Being the treatments: T1: control (without activated coal, sun), T2 (coal, sun), T3 (darkness, without coal), T4 (wash, control), T5 (darkness, coal). The characteristics evaluated were the oxidation levels, the percentage of contamination (fungus, bacterium) and the development (height, number of leaves). Before the presented results it can be concluded that the Aloysia virgata presents oxidation easiness. The wash in water favors the spread of fungus and bacterium. The dark ambient and the middle with activated coal were efficient in the control of the oxidation.

The soil of the Paraiba, in generality, are acid and with low levels of available match, seriously limiting the income of the plants. A research in vegetation house was lead, with the objective to evaluate doses of calcareous soil and match in the culture of ricinus. The treatments had been composites for five levels of match: 0.0; 80; 160; 240 and 360 kg ha-1 of P2O5 and four dosis of calcareous rock: 0.0; 2.5; 3.5 and 4.5 t ha-1 in experimental delineation of blocks casualized with 4 factorial project x 3 (four levels of match and three doses of calcareous soil) more two treatments you add zero of match (0.0 P2O5: 2,5 t ha-1 of calcareous soil) and calcareous soil zero (240 P2O5: 0.0 t ha-1 of calcareous soil), with three repetitions. The calcareous soil reduced the acidity of the ground and effect of the application of the match (¿ 80 kg ha-1 of P2O5) in the presence of the collagen (¿ 2.5 t ha-1 of CaCO3) with of the calcareous soil (¿ 2.5 t ha-1 of CaCO3) in the presence of the match was not verified well (¿ 80 kg ha-1 of P2O5). The match applied in the absence of the calcareous soil was limited to the income of the culture of what the calcareous soil in the absence of the match.

O mandacaru (Cereus jamacaru P. DC.)

This work had for objective to test the coconut dust as one of the components of the substratum recommended in the production of seedlings of green pepper (Capsicum annuum L.) and that the inoculation with arbuscular mychorrizal fungi (AMF) it turns the most efficient plant in the absorption of nutrients, especially the phosphorus. A Yellow Red Argissolo was used, the substrata dust dry coconut and dust green coconut. The plants had been inoculated by AMF (Glomus clarum, Glomus intraradices and margarita Gigaspora). The experiment was lead per 45 days, the plants had been supplied weekly with exempt nutritional solution of P and to the end collected and submitted to the analyses of: dry mass of the aerial part, leaf number, height of the plant, diameter of caule, contend of macronutrient and micronutrient of the aerial part of plant. The delineation was of blocks casualizados with eighteen treatments and four repetitions. The results had demonstrated that10% dust dry coconut the seedlings of green pepper presented better results in mass dries of the aerial part, height, number of leves and diameter of caule.

This work had the objective to assess the effect of different systems of soil management on the components of corn and Brachiaria decumbens production in the conditions of the coastal plateau of the State of Alagoas. The experiment was carried out in the Center of Agrarian Sciences of the Federal University of Alagoas in the year of 2006, in a Yellow Latosol (Oxisols) Cohesive dystrophic soil. The treatments used were: usual preparation system (SPC); minimum cultivation (SCM); direct plantation (SPD) and farming-cattle integration (ILP), this one joined with B. decumbens. The hybrid of maize BRS 3003 was used whose variable had been: number of plants ha-1 (PP), length of spikes (CE), number of row grains on spikes-1 (NF), number of spike (NE), mass of 100 grains (M100) and grain yield (PG); and fresh weight (MN) and dry weight (MS) of the B. decumbens. The results showed that the soil management systems influenced the PP, NE and PG, but not the variables CE, NF and M100. The treatments ILP and the PD were the most promising management systems. In system ILP, the accumulation of MN and MS did not have influence in the production of corn grains, representing an interesting food source for farm animals.

Red rice is grown by small farmers of Brazil, especially in the Paraíba, Rio Grande do Norte and Pernambuco States, because of its specialty characteristics, compared to white rice, like flavor, texture and supposed nutritional value. Current varieties were selected by farmers and, in general, present traditional plant architecture and small yield. Aim of this work was to compare agronomic, cooking and nutritional characteristics of white and red rice varieties. A field assay was carried out in the Embrapa Meio-Norte experimental area, in Teresina, Piauí State, and the laboratorial analysis, in Embrapa Arroz e Feijão, in Santo Antônio de Goiás, Goiás State. Eleven white rice and four red rice varieties were evaluated, with emphasis to yield, amylose content, cooking time, brown and polished rice, iron and zinc contents. The white rice varieties present larger yield and amylose content, requiring smaller cooking time than the red rice varieties, however the red rice varieties stand out, specially as polished rice, regarding the iron and zinc contents.

The study was care out to evaluate the consumption and digestibility of rations with increasing levels of coconut meal by sheep. Eight sheep between six and ten months old installed in metabolism cages were use. The statistical design was a randomized blocks made by SISVAR 3.0 program. To calculate the nutrients consumption, the quantities supplied and the leftovers were weighed to form at the end of the period, a composite sample for laboratory analysis. There was significant difference (P<0.05) between treatment to consumption of DM (dry matter), OM (organic matter), CP (crude protein), EE (ether extract), NFC (non-fibrous carbohydrate), TCHO (Total Carbohydrates), ADF (acid detergent fiber), HEM (hemicelluloses), CEL (Cellulose), observing negative effect on consumption when included the by-product. There was no significant effect (P> 0.05%) between treatments to digestibility coefficients of DM, OM, energy, HEM, Cellular Content (CC), NFC and total digestible nutrients (TDN). Regarding the coefficient of digestibility of the ether extract (EE), as the by-product was included in the diet, increased the digestibility of this parameter. The digestibility of ADF and NDF decreased as it did the inclusion of the by-product of coconut. Thus, the use of byproduct over 6% of complete feed based on corn and soybeans meal is not recommended.
