Metarhizium anisopliae var. anisopliae and Metarhizium flavoviride var. flavoviride are entomopathogenic fungi with proved action against several species of insects. In this work, the behavior and cytology of the M. anisopliae var. anisopliae (PL43) and M. flavoviride var. flavoviride (CG291) were evaluated after the passage in eggs, larvae and adults Chrysomya albiceps, an important causer of secondary myiais. The experiment was carried out under an acclimatized environment's humidity and temperature of 60 ± 10% and 28 ± 1oC. The most expressive results of the biological parameters studied (percentage of germination, quantity of conidia, quantity and diameter of colonies) were reached from re-isolated fungi of larvae. No significant differences were observed in the cytological aspects of the life cycle of the fungi post-passage in eggs, larvae and adults. These results suggest the possibility of the use of the fungi in the control of C. albiceps fly.

The present research had as objective to evaluate the effect of the traditional forest fire and the enleirament of organic residues in attributes biological in soil under caatinga. Four areas of caatinga of 1 ha been selected, to know: (a) the area that were deforested, forest fire and planted with maize and beans, after five years of pousio (CQ); b) area that was deforested and the placed organic residues in leiras and planted with maize and beans between the leiras, after five years of pousio (CL); c) area with 5 years of pousio (P5); d) secondary forest established 50 years (Mata). They had been collected, in these areas, soil samples in the layers of 0 - 20 cm composed of twenty subamostras in March of 2006. The following attributes was evaluated in microbiana biomass carbon (CBM), microbial basal respiration (C-CO2), microbial metabolic quotient (q Co2) and relation CBM:COT (qMIC). In adition, was evaluated the total organic carbon (COT) and some attributes quimic of soil. The highest values of CBM and relation CBM:COT had been found in Mata, P5 and CL, while of COT they had been registered in Mata, CQ and P5. The highest values of C-CO2 release had been observed in CQ and NF, followed of CL and P5. The qCO2 rate was higher in the CQ, comparison to the too much treatments that they had not differed between itself. The multivaried analysis was an important auxiliary tool fos suggesting CBM as an attribute to discriminate the studied areas.

The Grass, have high relation for C / N and a fascicule root system, is an alternative for use in the system of tillage (SPD) in northeastern Brazil. This work had the objective to assess the effects of three plants and grass cover on the components of production of the corn crop in no-tillage system and accumulation of biomass of their grass. The design was randomized blocks with four replications, with each plot area of 112 m2 (5,6 x 20,0m). The treatments consisted of the corn cultivation, DKB-333-B, about three grass species (Brachiaria decumbens, Brachiaria humidicola and Tifton in the system of tillage and a witness, without vegetation. The B. decumbens provided higher income to the corn crop, producing 5708 kg ha-1, didn't differ of the witness. The use of grass as cover plants are a viable alternative to the SPD of the corn crop, adding value by producing two crops (corn and grass), and protect the soil against erosion and produce forage for ruminants during the between-season .

The present work had as objective uses a model of lineal programming algorithm to optimize the use of the water in the District of Irrigation Baixo Acaraú-CE proposing the "best" combination of crop types and areas established of 8,0 ha. The model aim maximize the net benefit of small farmer, incorporating the constraints in water and land availability, and constraints on the market. Considering crop types and the constraints, the study lead to the following conclusions: 1. The water availability in the District was not a limiting resources, while all available land was assigned in six of the seven cultivation plans analyzed. Furthermore, water availability was a restrictive factor as compared with land only when its availability was made to reduce to 60% of its actual value; 2. The combination of soursop and melon plants was the one that presented the largest net benefit, corresponding to R$ 5,250.00/ha/yr. The planting area for each crop made up to 50% of the area of the plot; 3. The plan that suggests the substitution of the cultivation of the soursop, since a decrease in annual net revenue of 5.87%. However, the plan that contemplates the simultaneous substitution of both soursop and melon produced the lowest liquid revenue, with reduction of 33.8%.

This study aimed to evaluate the insecticidal activity of eight medicinal plants on Callosobruchus maculatus (F.) (Coleoptera: Bruchidae). Plant powder from Rosmarinus officinalis (L.) leaves, Peumus boldus (Mol) leaves, Matricaria chamomilla (L.) flowers, Baccharis trimera (Less.) leaves, Camellia sinensis (L.) leaves, Thea sinensis (L.) leaves, Ilex paraguariensis (St. Hil.) leaves, and fruits of Pimpinella anisum (L.) were used in the experiment. Bioassays were carried out under constant conditions of temperature (28±2 °C), relative humidity (70±5%) and scotophase of 24 hours. Experimental units consisted of 20 grams of cowpea (Vigna unguiculata (L.) Walp.) grains with 13% wet basis moisture content, 2 g plant powder and ten adult insects, both placed in plastic containers (60 mm in diameter x 60 mm high). The analyzed variables included: insect mortality, oviposition (egg number) and instantaneous rate of population growth (ri). The number of dead insects was recorded 5 days after bioassays were started, the egg number was recorded after 12 days, and ri was estimated on the 60th day. All the tested plants had toxicity to C. maculatus. The highest mortality was found in insects treated with P. boldus and I. paraguariensis. Number of eggs and ri also varied significantly among the powders. The lowest mean values for these parameters were recorded in the plots treated with P. boldus, P. anisum and R. officinalis.

The objective of this present study was to evaluate the productive performance and carcass traits of kids goats receiving rations containing four ratios of concentrate and roughage using the Elephant grass in natura chopped as roughage. The ratios evaluated were: 80:20; 60:40; 40:60 and 20:80% of concentrate and roughage in dry matter basis of rations. Twenty eight Saanen male goats with 9.3 kg of initial body weight distributed in four groups with seven animals in collective pens were used. The experimental design adopted was a completely randomized with seven replicates. The increase of concentrate in rations promoted higher average daily gain, final body weight, total weight gain. Besides, there were obtained higher hot and cold carcass weight and dressing using highest concentrate levels. Thus, technically is viable the use of high concentrate based rations for finishing male goats. However, the concentrate to be used depends to bioeconomic performance promoted.
