Methodological aspects of an improvement of calculation information system in agricultural companies Texte intégral

Phenomenalistic data of the development of prime costs in agriculture-oriented companies inSlovakia indicate that they have considerably increased in the main production, intracompany services and the company as a whole. Therefore, the management of a company has to apply an economic approach to cost management. Recommendations to build up a control structure of the cost system in the agricultural primary production are presented and its rational connection with actual costing, which uses algorithms of unconventional calculation methods, is analysed. In the cost system control structure, costs are recommended to be divided in two levels, namely by groups of activities and classification by elements of cost and by the relationship to outputs covering agricultural products. Using a general model, the objectives analysed are implemented in the livestock production aimed at dairy cow breeding.

This essay provides and introduction to agricultural biotechnology in a developing country context. The author looks at issues of food security, consumer acceptance, sectoral change and regulation in the context of advances in genomics and bioinformatics which have led to an increase in the rate and volume of advances in the biotech. field. The key issues discussed are:How will the potential benefits and risks of modern biotechnology be distributed? Can agricultural biotechnology feed the world? How is the agri-food sector changing? What impact will IPR and biosafety regulation have?

This book synthesizes contemporary experiences with changing public and private sector roles in funding and executing agricultural research, with emphasis on developing countries. The book consists of 15 chapters organized into four distinct parts. Part I provides a brief overview of the current status, trends and policy issues in public and private agricultural research and development in developing countries. The remaining parts of the book consist of case studies of recent experiences in exploring alternative mechanisms for funding and organizing agricultural research in an environment of privatization. Part II assesses public-private collaboration in financing research through commodity levies paid by farmers, and part III evaluates public-private collaboration in provision of research services through joint ventures and other types of partnerships. Part IV focuses on responses of public research organizations to privatization.

2002
Decaëns, Thibaud | Jiménez Jaén, J.J.
This study was carried out in the Eastern Plains of Colombia and assessed the impact of agricultural intensification on the structure of earthworm communities. Earthworms were hand-sorted in a variety of agroecosystems of increasing intensity, from natural savanna to pastures and annual crops. An agricultural intensification index was used to rank systems along an intensification gradient, i.e. from native savanna to pastures and annual crops. Earthworm biomass, specific richness and Shannon index sharply decreased along the gradient. The disappearance of some species in cultivated systems was mostly attributed to the lack of recovery of populations after major perturbations like e.g. tillage. The more resistant species were those presenting high surface mobility (i.e. high colonisation capacity) or high population growth potential (i.e. high ability of population recovering after perturbation). Sensitive species disappeared after pasture establishment but richness was recovered in a period of about 3 years. In 17 year-old pastures, the community has regained its initial diversity and present very high biomass due to the presence of abundant populations of an anecic species. On the opposite side, annual crops had deep detrimental impacts that were more accentuated in the rotations (i.e. systems that were tilled twice a year) and were still present in a 2 year-old fallow.
