Clinical and therapeutic studies of parasitic gastroentritis in cattle

The present investigation was undertaken to observe the mixed gastrointestinal nematode infections of cattle under farm conditions and to: (i) study the clinical signs and (ii) determine the therapeutic efficacy of "Wopell" anthelmintic broad spectrum drug against naturally occurring mixed gastrointestinal nematodiasis in cattle. A detailed clinical, physical and microscopic examinations of the faeces for parasitic egg counts were conducted. On the basis of the result of egg counts, 42 animals were selected and divided into 6 groups with one control for each. Wopell was found to be very effective against the Haenonchus spp., Mecistocirrus spp., Trichostrongylus spp., Oesophagostomum spp., Trichuris spp., and Capillaria spp
