[Methyl bromide for control of nematodes belonging to the genus Xiphinema and bromide residues in the soil]

Methyl bromide was applied at the rates of 30, 60, 90 and 120 g/m('2) in a field infested by Xiphinema and X. pachtaicum, part of an old vineyard pulled out the previous year. Two weeks after treatment all rates had eradicated the nematodes to a depth of 90 cm. Concentrations of total bromides in the soil had increased with increasing rates of application of the chemical.
