Effect of cultivation on the severity of stalk rot of corn [Zea mays] (Philippines)

The study aimed to determine the effect of cultivation on the severity of stalk rot on corn. The treatments were: no cultivation, cultivation 15 cm away from the base and cultivation 30 cm away from base of test plants. Results of treatments are discussed. The findings imply that cultivating the soils close to the base of corn plants caused severe infection of stalk rot on corn, be it Erwinia carotovora var chrysanthemi, Pythium debaryanum and Fusarium moniliforme or their combination
