Corn farming practices and rituals of Maguindanaon farmers [Philippines]

The average age of the respondents was 38.63 years old. The average year of schooling was 3.17 years. Only 76.56 percent were members of the various organizations in the study areas. Over one-half had attended farmers' practical classes and seminars related to farming. Only 39.06 percent of them were owners of the land they cultivated; others were either tenants, lessees, mortgagees or borrowers. Almost all of them relied in corn farming as major source of income. The majority of them belonged to P3,000.00 to P9,000.00 annual gross income. The majority of them did not follow or practiced the recommended corn farming practices in Maisagana. They have their own established way of doing these activities in corn farming. Others still practiced rituals to solve their farming problems, however, some of the ritual believers used proven chemicals when they found it effective
