Lim, G.
Investigation of fungal diseases affecting cultivated plants in Singapore done for a period of more than 10 years, showed that among the diseases observed, leaf spotting was the most prevalent. The fungal pathogens causing various diseases were Mastigomycetes, Zygomycetes, Ascomycetes, Basidiomycetes and Fungi imperfecti, with the latter containing the largest number of pathogens causing mainly leaf spot diseases. The casual pathogens, Cercospora and Pseudocercospora were extremely widespread and an important cause of leaf spot diseases affecting a wide range of plants. Other less prevalent disease which may be considered fairly serious were wilts, powdery mildew, damping-off, anthracnose and rusts. Sooty moulds and black mildews were also included for mention. Control and prevention of these various diseases were also discussed
