The effect of N, P and K on forage yield and quality of the subalpine Amarandos pasture, prefecture of Trikala, was studied during 1973-77 in a complete factorial combination of the type 3Nx3Px2K. Both the main and the NxP and NxPxK interaction effects on dry matter, crude protein yields as well as mineral composition were statistically significant. Application of the above nutrients increased total N, P, K, Ca, Mg and Zn uptake, and improved forage quality. Application of N decreased by matter P, Ca, Mg and Zn content and lowered legume percentage by 58,5%, while it increased grasses by 16,5%. On the other hand, P decreased significantly dry matter's Ca content, while it increased P and K content as well as legumes by 150%. An optimum combination of 50-50-50 kg/ha of N-P2O5-K2O gave maximum forage yields
