Rural buffaloes and cattle with the history of anoestrus and having a palpable smooth ovarian condition or a corpus luteum in one of the ovaries were treated orally with a 5 mg tablet of medroxyprogesterone acetate for 5, 7, 10, 12 or 14 days. A 10-day dose regimen produced greatest oestrous response, two to three days after the termination of the therapy and doubled the pregnancy rate in both buffaloes and cattle
