Nitrogen and organic matter contents of soil as influenced by pigeonpea sown at different dates and plant spacings with different phosphorus doses

It was found that different dates of sowing did not affect the soil nitrogen and organic matter contents. The close plant spacing significantly increased the percentage of total nitrogen and organic matter contents of the soil over the medium and wide plant spacings. However, wider spaced crop left more available nitrogen in the soil as compared to close spaced crop. An application of 75 kg. P2O5/ha increased the total nitrogen and organic matter contents of the soil and available nitrogen as compared to 50 kg and 25 kg P2O5/ha doses
