Studies on prolongation of the green period in zoysiagrasses

This study was conducted in 1982 and 1983 to investigate the effect of fertilization and covering on prolongation of the green period in Zoysiagrass. Nitrogen fertilizer greatly affected top growth chlorophyll content and leaf color. Covering over zoysia turf during the frost period did not affect the top growth and chlorophyll content. Applications of 40g/m2 year of nitrogen and phosphorus were most effective, and potassium had an additive effect. Prolongation of the green period to the late in Oct was possible by the fertilization
