Admixtures of volcanic ashes can seldom be observed in the field, though the specific soil properties such as organic carbon content, charge characteristics, clay mineralogy and available micronutrients seem to emerge. These are expressed by the specific taxa international classification systems. These soil properties call for care in the evaluation of land for some major perennial crops (rubber and cocoa) and in soil management practices, such as liming and potassium fertilization. A map featuring the occurrence of the most important volcanic outcrops has been deduced from the Geological Map of West Malaysia
