Evaluation of four vitamin-mineral premises for growing pigs

Two trials involving 40 individually fed crossbred pigs (24-66 kg) were conducted to evaluate Afsillin, Furavim, Grobic and Pigromix as vitamin-mineral premix supplements for growing pigs. There were five treatments in the two trials including a control diet with no vitamin mineral premix. In Trial 1, the feeding was conducted for a period of 42 days while Trial 2 was conducted for 45 days. Results in Trial 1 showed that pigs supplemented with grobic had the highest average daily gain (ADG) and best feed efficiency (F/G) followed by Pigromix, Afsillin, Furavim and control groups. In Trial 2, pigs supplemented with the four premixes were higher (P.05) in ADG compared to the control group. In terms of F/G, the pigs with Alfillin and Grobic supplements were better (P.05) compared with pigs fed with Furavim and Pigromix supplements and the unsupplemented feed. When data for both trials were combined the mean ADG of pigs were 0.65 kg for grobic, 0.63 kg for Afsillin, 0.61 kg for Pigromix and Furavim, and 0.55 kg for the unsupplemented group. The mean F/G values were 3.07 for Grobic, 3.26 for Afsillin, 3.29 for Pigromix, 3.26 for Furavim and 3.62 for the unsupplemented group
