The results obtained in this experiment indicated that prostaglandin is effective in inducing parturition. Intramuscular use of 5 mg Dinoprost Trometamine (Lutalyze) induced 78% of the 18 sows to farrow in 27.27 hours post injection. The time of treatment influenced the rate of induction in this trial. Percentage induction was higher in sows treated at 112th and 113th day of gestation (83%) than in sows treated at 111th day of pregnancy (67%). Injection of prostaglandin F22 at 8:00 a.m. on one of the days 111, 112, and 113th day of gestation increases the chance of daytime farrowing. The sow and litter performance of prostaglandin F22 treated groups as to duration of farrowing, litter size, birth and weaning weights and mortality at birth up to weaning time had no difference compared with the non-treated group
