The project focuses on defining the potential productivity of whole cropping patterns and many factors responsible for the gap between potential productivity and farm performance. The overall project has three components: (1) field studies of on-farm cropping systems performance (2) calculations of potential productivity of rainfed rice-based cropping systems using simulation methods, (3) evaluation of socio-economic factors contributing to the gap in productivity between farmers and available technology.
