Dehydrated forages for fattening pigs obtained from whole maize plants and lucerne

The experiment were made on 180 weaners in order to utilize in the pig fattening large proportions of dehydrated forages obtained from whole maize plants, lucerne and sugar beets. The fattening results for groups receiving sugar beet meal and large quantities of lucerne or maize meal were very unfavourable. The growth rate significantly decreased and the feed efficiency was lower. The meal obtained from whole maize plants had lower protein content than the lucerne meal and should not be used for pig fattening
