The content of simple phenols in soil constantly increases because of the decomposition of organic matter and various xenobiotics introduced into soil. The bacterial phenolic compounds can interact with some pesticides or with the products of their decomposition changing their phytotoxicity. The interaction between phenolic metabolites of bacteria and pesticides can lead to the formation of intermediates more toxic than the original compounds
