Estimating the C factors in the universal soil loss equation, USLE for different crown cover percentage of hill evergreen forest

The C-factor for the natural hill evergreen forest was .0009. Those crown cover of about 20-30 40-50 50-60 60-70 70-80 and 80-90 percent had the C-factor of .0017, .0010, .0012, .0014, .0011 and .0013 respectively. The values were, however, not significantly different. After the change of crown cover, and allowed it, in undisturbed succession to the natural stage, the C-factors of the recovery period were also not significantly different. To summarize the percentage of crown cover at various levels did not affect the value of C-factors. The C-factor therefore, was depending on the effects of understorey, litter cover and organic matter on the surface soil. The regression analysis of the relationship between the C-factor and crown cover percentage indicated the opposite correlation and the trend of the relation is nonlinear pattern
