Effect of phosphorus on the growth and yield of lentil (Lens esculenta L.) grown in the grey floodplain soils of Jamalpur [Bangladesh]

A field experiment on lentil (var.L-5) with four levels of phosphate (0,30,60 and 90 kg P(2)0(5)/ha) was conducted during the rabi season of 1980-81 at the Regional Agricultural Research Station of Bangladesh Agricultural Research Institute, Jamalpur. The application of phosphate increased significantly the grain yield and 1000 grain weight upto 60 kg P(2)0(5)/ha. There was hardly any effect of phosphate fertilization on the percent N and P contents
