A method is described for sufficient infection of tobacco protoplasts with tobacco mosaic virus (TMV)-RNA by means of polyethylene glycol (PEG). More than 50 % of isolated protoplasts survived. Using 36 to 38 % PEG 1550, more than 70 % of the protoplasts got infected
