Evaluation of the anti-hail campaigns in Navarra: An application of the Box-Jenkins approach to time series analysis

The effectiveness of the anti-hail campaigns carried out in Navarra from 1969 to 1979 is analyzed by means of a model of dynamic regression that relates such damages, evaluated by the damages/fees ratio, with the existence or not of protection and with the damages in all the national territory. According to the model, no effect of the protection campaigns on the damages/fees ratio is appreciated. On the other hand, the analysis makes evident the inadequacy of the method of double-mass curves, frequently used in this kind of studies
