Using data from 9 and 13 middle-sized does, slaughtered at 19 and 28 days of pregnancy respectively, it was verified that female size conditions the total weight of the uterine content but not the size of each embryo. Placental size is limited, in general, by the growing live mass and by a local competence for space inside each uterine horn with the other placentas, although a compensatory effect generated by the uterine horn with more placentas does exist. Fetus weight is limited, in general, by the growing live mass, essentially through the limitation of the associated placenta. This is the most important factor related to fetus weight which is also affected by the local competence among placentas inside uterine horn.
