Analysis of ruminal fluid in buffaloes with diaphragmatic hernia

Physico-chemical properties of ruminal fluid of nine female buffaloes with diaphragmatic hernia were studied and compared with normal values. The ruminal contents in patients were either semisolid with small amount of foam (in 77%) or frothy (in 23%) in nature. pH and total volatile fatty acids were within normal range, whereas histamine, tryptamine and tyramine were significantly high in affected animals
