In the treated plants of 'Pusa Ruby' the number of primary branches increased. The increase was maximum in treatment of 1,250 gauss for 15 min. In 'Pusa Early Dwarf' the increase was noticed in magnetic field treatments of 500, 900 and 1,550 gauss for 30 min. Treated 'Pusa Ruby' plants on an average produced 1.76 more branches/plant at early stages and 1.48 more branches/ plant at later stages as compared with control. "Pusa Early Dwarf' produced more branches than the control only at an early stage. An increase in the number of primary branches may be a good index to increase fruit yield
