This study was initiated in 1979 to find out the role of vegetation cover in controlling soil erosion in one catch area of Adhaim river basin. The experiment was successful in holding surface soil by the herbaceous roots of barley adding more organic matter to the soil which in turn lead to the growth of more vegetative cover on the slopes plus accumulation of sediments behind the bunds which has allowed perennial plants to grow all the way through vallies
