A flock of 1008 - shaver 288 - layer hens housed in cages was force moulted after one year egg production by withdrawing feed for nine days and water for one day, after which ground yellow corn was given for another 21 days, the hens were then divided into three groups for post-moult treatments. The hens of the first treatment were given a 14% crude protein layer ration ME = 2856 Kcal/kg. diet, respectively. No significant differences were observed among all protein level treatments in egg production, feed composition, egg shell thickness, Haugh units and mortality. However, egg weight was significantly less with the 14% crude protein layer ration than the 16 and 18 percent crude protein layer rations
